25/8/2018 18:57 | It is interesting that conventional wisdom tells us to never invest that which we cannot afford to lose. As defined benefits pensions are increasingly replaced by defined contributions it is inevitable that this is just no longer practical advice. After retirement you can put your pot in the hands of an “expert” or grasp the nettle and get on with it. The “expert” will always play safe delivering meagre returns whilst pocketing the fees and most share pickers will lose money. There is no easy answer but Versarien is by far my biggest holding and best performer. I am very happy to hold. | ![]() johnveals
25/8/2018 18:55 | I'm in after reading up on this share, 5 - 10 years will see it soar. | bgt1
25/8/2018 18:43 | For me it all happened back in November 2017 reading about this penny share called Versarien and looking at the face of NR. I then bought a few at 12.40p and started my research......especi Next came a visit to hear Prof A Ferarri give a two hour lecture on Graphene and so more were bought and the lowest price I paid was 10.35p. Continued to buy and then went to see Prof S Hodge who at that time was not full time with VRS but on call, so to speak for NR and this was at the Cambridge Graphene Center. It was such a surprise to see two bus loads of Chines students (aged between 13-17 years) all talking to the staff and they were there to book in for 2 year courses. Now you can see what is happending as economic growth passe from the West to go East! Missed the P Bid business but still carried on as well as our now big local investment club bought shares as well as members so we must have over 30+ residents of the Cambridge area as owners......Farmers, accountants and areo space people. Finally I went to Berlin where I met David Kerr who I helped a little on the stand and saw for myself who in the world wanted to know about the stuff as well as meeting a number of suspects including the OZ boys. I have also attended one AGM but am unable to attend this year as well as going to Texas to look at the USA involvement. I have seen it work and I have seen how it is made and I now understand how the stuff needs to be designed for the operation in question............ Look and think concrete and wire rods and how they can be coated with whatever which has nanene in it...........that for me is one big reason why AECOM approached VRS. If you look at the Wikipedia page towards the bottom you will find a list of many of the huge developments that company has been involved with. Now the trick is to find out how much nanene goes into the making of precast concrete blocks as well as how many miles of steel coated rods and on we go........... These are the sorts of deals which change not only the P/L but will produce many other construction businesses from around the world to come and talk to VRS.........now go back to the Chines students at the Cambridge Graphen Center......they will be the winners BUT so will all of us who have invested in a remarkable company and business. Thank you team VRS and SuperG and Mike Brenner for making this the share of the century for our Family Office. | ![]() anley
25/8/2018 18:24 | I came to VRS via a tip, I forget who, after 20 years in and out of IMG and a few others, including a minor disaster with BPRG/MDX , and after some background reading and research into Graphene and 2d materials with my son, who is at Cambridge uni, studying Chem Eng. First in at 35p ish, built up to 77000 shares, and feeling confident due to that background research, the increasingly impressive partner companies, Govt support, and what I can infer of NR. Never met him, but look forward to the AGM.Also heavily into IQE just now. I like the whole materials tech. space just now. It feels like a paradigm shift is underway.Regards to allM | maxibrit2
25/8/2018 18:24 | My wife amd I got into vrs via our Sipps in jul 16 having researched graphene firms on aim; Looking at a 5-7 play, hoping to retire early ! I also had an equal punt in haydale, who looked further ahead at that time, but never added more, selling out at 172p on the day the 'iso' standards were announced. Lots of things i liked about vrs, but the july 2015 rns of 'a major advance' in graphene gnps at scale caught my eye the most. Plus that uom had taken shares in vrs when 2D tech was spun out. It smelt credible. We are now both 90% in vrs. The progress made since that july 2015 rns is nothing short of sensational. Aimo. Best ellis | ![]() ellissj

25/8/2018 18:00 | I have Fest to thank for my investment in VRS. He mentioned them on the GVC board earlier this year, along with TERN and GWMO if memory serves correct. Fortunately I quickly discounted the latter two, but having read up on VRS took a modest interest in the 60-70 pence range, to which I have added over the last few months. VRS is now my second largest holding (after GVC) at an average £1.08. Thank you Fest - and GET THAT MARKET OPEN!!!! :) | ![]() joeywald
25/8/2018 17:50 | Spike you have had an interesting life by the sounds of things, I also have no time for BS, I have dealt with thousands of ppl this past few years with work and have grown adept at weeding out the BS and time wasters once I’m one on one, have a lot of time for ppl that are genuine | ![]() haz101

25/8/2018 17:00 | pcjoe: to be fair 'saint' was in inverted commas. I've been inside convents in Ireland and spoken to nuns and (separately) spoken to victims, so yes you have a very good point. So - biography MK II, swap saint for nice, and I'll settle for Attenborough D, and Hanks T. Keep smiling - Spike | ![]() spike_1
25/8/2018 16:51 | Just reading the posts, interesting stories. One key factor that was evident and now has expanded significantly is the lack of a binary bet situation. EG we had a few China nutters around obsessed with it for months after that news. It was all or nothing one China for them but many were invested before China news ever appeared. Some of that herd came and went. The circs are were and are that VRS will not be pushed into a low value deal. As big as the deal seemed we are now far better off as their are about and 24 interested so the China binary bet has gone. Dropping to 23 is not news, jumping from one to 24 is but it just got included in other news. The number is likely to climb imo. The same goes for collaborations. 1 has become 17 (is it 17 I'm losing count and have stopped counting) I'm just trying to remember what has been said. Then in the podcast it's not slowing up but getting more active on that front. NR said since Matt W arrived his workload has tripled. In the same time 3 graphene experts have joined, and a further DIT guy. Bruno is the China guy and more names to come on the list I suspect. The train hasn't even started its engine yet but it's been completely bonkers on the news run. | ![]() superg1

25/8/2018 16:25 | I was first alerted to VRS on the IOF board in November and first invested the day after the Primary Bid offer and similarly having a chunk of my portfolio in cash from the PAYS buyout ready for a new home.Since then with familiar IOF posters like SuperG and the knowledge shared and steady news released, I have been steadily increasing my position and selling off most of mine and my wife's other shares so around 80% of our ISA and SIPPs now. Also 7 colleagues, friends and family have joined the ride. | ![]() redstone64
25/8/2018 16:23 | I came to VRS through the fundraise last November. Had to act quickly, so bought a few after very little research and having never heard of VRS before then. Checked a bit more over the weekend before buying more on the Monday. Been topping up since then, with a 60p average. Went to the investor day earlier this year and very much liked what I heard. Very impressed with the team at VRS. It feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and is now my largest ever shareholding and biggest paper profit. I'm not a trader and am holding for the long-term. Thanks to those on this board who supply quality information to those of us who aren't as knowledgeable about graphene. | catonahottinroof
25/8/2018 15:54 | My brother ratpat999 told me about vrs and i started investing last November with my NHS pension lump sum at 40p, have topped up whenever i could and now hold 33,262 shares without the posts from Superg and others its doubtful i would have invested as much as i have, having retired at 55 from the nursing profession my Husband has been very trusting seeing his income going into here i tell him these shares will be worth more than those in his business in years to come (approx 1 million)lets hope im right or he might be my ex- husband 😳 | ![]() hattie1
25/8/2018 15:50 | pshevlin - as far as I can work it out, the only 2 IIs left in VRS are Miton and Herald, and that was at the end of June, so they are most likely to have top sliced further. | lovat scout
25/8/2018 15:45 | Emzero, I don't think your late to the party. In fact I think owning shares in versarien prior to the China news and IMO more USA collabs is still early to the party.I added again on Friday :) | ![]() bootie64
25/8/2018 15:45 | Having been thrown out of PAYS and nowhere to go I looked at the video of one of the Manchester open days and was hooked. I had tried a very small investment in the past in Graphene but it was too early. Being a Mancunian (Greater Manchester) I really wanted to be part of the revolution but until VRS came along there was nothing worth having. Now almost 2/3 of my total investments are in it and that proportion grows all the time. It will not change until they get to at least £20 per share and then I might sell 1/60th of my holding. That's it! ( I Hope ) | ![]() pshevlin |
