20/7/2018 17:46 | Wuzy - you can’t. There isn’t a list of stop losses for viewing by MMs, traders etc. Each spread betting firm will obviously know where they are but that is kept confidential within the firm and when the loss is activated triggers an order to close out at best price possible. 137.5p - could be to create a false opening loss on Monday as suggested, to try and create a stop loss order on any short positions first thing on Monday with a high close or if a portfolio trade is to be carried out by an investment bank based on official closing prices, you sometimes see strange goings on in closing auctions. | lovat scout
20/7/2018 17:41 | Btw Nice to know we are no longer waiting for the China news. Now it's potentially 24 lots of China news from different provinces, cities and companies. Many got excited by 1 now it's 24. On the appointment front. Such folk have friends and acquaintances in the industry so I imagine a few more new PIs are going to appear, if not already. That's how it works. A friend got interested and now his friends have some, my son got interested and now his work colleagues have some. | ![]() superg1
20/7/2018 17:41 | Maybe they put the 1 share up at that price so the share price would show an immediate fall on Monday encouraging idiots to sell. | ![]() pshevlin
20/7/2018 17:37 | Thanks scout how can you tell if that is the case? Cheers | ![]() wuzy
20/7/2018 17:36 | I think it can sometimes be due to squaring up the books for an MM, Lovat may know, but obviously it's not that. A 1 trade though is highly suspicious especially at the level. It means someone put up a bid for 1 share at 137.5 and it will execute as the offer was 135p. The market prices is then whatever price the UT is. In this case 137.5 Uncrossing Trade: During the auction period, there may be a point (or price) at which the best BID and best ASK match and a trade takes place. This trade on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) is known as an Uncrossing Trade. | ![]() superg1
20/7/2018 17:33 | I think that single share deserves an audience? | ![]() axotyl
20/7/2018 17:33 | Wuzy - only if a broker or client has left a stop loss order with the MM. That is not the case for spread bets otherwise it would be a licence to print money! | lovat scout
20/7/2018 17:28 | Thanks super, the purpose being??!! | ![]() sonsonnyjim
20/7/2018 17:24 | Superg1 do you know wether MM. can see stop losses? And if so how, cheers | ![]() wuzy
20/7/2018 17:21 | False close Sonny the real price was 132.5p. It happens from time to time on various shares but I've never seen it done like that before. | ![]() superg1
20/7/2018 17:16 | Wood - we closed at 1.375? | ![]() sonsonnyjim
20/7/2018 17:13 | There again Neill may present another blockbusting rns on Monday morining. | ![]() rogerbridge
20/7/2018 16:59 | A trade after the bell - 1 share at £1.375? | ![]() storming norm
20/7/2018 16:55 | Silly mm games at the end there. Perhaps worth remembering to repost the point on Monday morning before open that we actually closed at 132.5p so that any newbies don't panic and sell thinking something is wrong. I would offer to do it but internet here is dodgy to say the least.... | ![]() woodpeckers
20/7/2018 16:48 | a_game: news 3 days in a row? Now you’re getting gready :) | foolishben
20/7/2018 16:47 | During much of the past 20 years I have taken geared positions from time to time, and it served me well. But successive changes in legislation have made it less and less appealing. I think it's about 3 years since my last spreadbet. I don't knock it - there are ways of utilising the facility carefully and wisely. But I agree that reckless or clumsy traders do very easily come a cropper at it - and there are a lot of them about :-O | ![]() grabster
20/7/2018 16:45 | or, maybe less of a gap up if news drops ;) those gaps are starting to annoy me.. | ![]() a_game
20/7/2018 16:44 | I think that is exactly the reason SG. It will look like the market opens 5p down even though the price 130-135 is the same.Trying to shake some out early Monday | ![]() luckykids
20/7/2018 16:44 | Just checked it is an uncrossing trade. The real price is 132.5 and that's where it will open Monday 5p down. Perhaps an MM game to try to get some stock Monday making it look like it's dropped 5p on open. | ![]() superg1
20/7/2018 16:43 | My gut feeling tells me whichever Market maker opens the shop will be showing an offer price of 1.375. | ![]() snoopy12

20/7/2018 16:42 | Someone wanted a high closing price! Shorters will not be happy:) | lovat scout
20/7/2018 16:41 | If any come over the top in auction that can be the UT trade which creates a closing price. I wasn't looking but suspect 1 share was put on the bid at 137.5. Monday (assuming no rns) it will open up at the price immediately prior to the aiction and look like an share price drop but it's not. | ![]() superg1
20/7/2018 16:39 | 1 share to finish the weekend at 137.50p | ![]() ashehzi
20/7/2018 16:37 | 1 share showed up during auction could it be another RNS on Monday. | ![]() snoopy12 |
