04/6/2017 12:56 | I dont think we are talking about the same yachts SG. Th AC50s spend so much time up on their hydofoils they would not have time to leak even if what you say is true. Also, no engines, just human pedal and grinder power. See for yourselves: | shavian
04/6/2017 12:44 | Shavian Did you know those in that sector yachts leak like a sieve and they big engines in them to pump the water out. If the engines fail, down she goes. | superg1
03/6/2017 07:43 | I didn't;t know you had ever been in IOF hopefully you got out at the right time. A good example of how a poor team can come in and destroy a great idea. Right team back but been a long slog largely created by corrupt companies on Chile. No speculation there as it's the biggest business scandal in Chile. | superg1
03/6/2017 06:05 | SuperG i havent owned shares in IOF for a few years. Was a very brief holding around 20p | john henry
02/6/2017 17:38 | Yes SG, Epson in particular caught my eye for the ink side. Samsung and others spent a great deal of money on one company and ended up in a blind alley. There are some global companies who would be in touch with the NGI and Nanene has been certified and ready to go. As I have said before, once bitten, twice shy a lot of CTO's have egg on their faces and there will be more than one very unhappy CFO. CTO's will not want to make the same mistake twice, it's too risky for their career, let alone the company that they work for. There will be NDA's and a lot of testing and proving to do, but VRS have the genuine article, Nanene or Inks. Why would any company want to go elsewhere? There have been too many short term investors here and it may be several months before the blue touch paper is lit up. But then, what a beautiful site as VRS share price goes balistic. Well that's what I hope for, we shall see. | rogerbridge
02/6/2017 13:20 | Epson/Seiko is interesting. VRS are already collaborating on carbon fibre printer heads, then there is the graphene ink. I imagine Epson would be interested in both. | superg1
02/6/2017 13:15 | hmmm typos I need to give up trying to spin so many plates, on the phone answering emails and trying to post. One reason one I asked for someone to start a new IOF thread. So what is on the list on the trip. Samsung, Sony, Seiko/Epson, Inmarsat, LG. Then on the replies "new friends at @seikowatches @Epson #Japan" Bit of a clue there. I know the company they don't say anything unless there is something behind it. The whole list called new friends. So who wants short term sales compared to signing something major with one or a few of those plus the others we know of. BTW that's 5 different names to the ones on the list on Cambridge day. Not Mr nobody in the UK NDA'd, out there talking to main guys in the far east. Horses, water etc. Yes NDAs need to convert and take time but for some of them they will be down the line. If you hook one then you tend to hook some more. The CEO is out to hook a few and he has the etch, product and no BS attitude to do just that. Cambridge Uni, UOM and NGI backed. You don't need dodgy city brokers if you have backers like that, they have sub divisions or that provide the funding, EG Samsung ventures like you point out Phoenixs. | superg1
02/6/2017 12:11 | sg, some big companies put money into XG, most probably all gone but I suppose it is only petty cash for them and they just write it off. | phoenixs
02/6/2017 11:33 | SG There's no doubt that a trade mission of this nature to the Far East has 'clout'. It gets you in front of some very famous names - even if you are a much smaller and lesser known company like our VRS. It's what you can do and offer that ultimately counts to these companies, not how big you are. I would love to have been a fly on the wall in those meetings! With regard to the slipping share price I can only re-iterate that it's just a function of the current weight of buying and selling. It will no doubt rapidly reverse once we get some exciting news which I'm personally confident will come at some point. I'm convinced that our offerings on conductive inks is second to none and there are clearly some major players sniffing around all over these inks. Something surely has to give at some point - but patience is required. | vasilis
02/6/2017 11:23 | Looks like Talga are in a totally different market - Talga reports impressive concrete strength test results using its graphene May 21, 2017 Graphene applications Talga Graphene composites Graphite Mechanical strength Technical / Research Australia-based technology minerals company, Talga Resources, recently announced impressive initial concrete prototype strength results from trials undertaken at the commercial concrete/cement laboratory of Betotech Baustofflabor in Germany. Graphene and graphite enhanced cement and concrete are key priority product targets for Talga. Concrete test prototypes were formulated with Talga graphene and graphite additives combined with a European industry cement and aggregate mixture. Results from the trial showed significant increases, about 26% in flexural strength and 14% in compressive strength, using Talga materials over reference concrete at 28 days cure time. Further optimization of the formulation is planned along with a larger range of performance tests including abrasion, shrinkage and permeability, among other tests. Electrical conductivity tests are also underway. Talga will continue to progress its product and commercialization strategy in the construction sector using these prototype test results as the catalyst to initiate joint development programs with global suppliers. | bazzerp
02/6/2017 11:17 | I did see that Samsung had originally put money into XG Sciences, so if they have been talking to VRS, then maybe XG Sciences cannot do what they said they could do. | phoenixs
02/6/2017 10:39 | I didn't check twitter. While NDAs carry no value and wouldn't form an RNS it seems the message is its ok to mention them now. 'new friends' is a bit of a clue' do some research and note what those names have done elsewhere and I some cases backed a dud and know they did. 02/6/2017 10:17 | I'm quite involved in road cycling Jointer and they've been looking at this for a while. Adding grapheme will cost a fair bit more, I know more and more people, esp execs, are getting into cycling these days and aren't baulking at paying 5k - 10k for a specced up bike but in reality a 500g saving in weight when you're 13 or 14 stone and fluctuate your own weight by more than that at points through the day anyway isn't a great leap forward. I think there's market out there though for those who just buy the most innovative and expensive thing they can because they can. In the elite, pro ranks funnily enough bike weight isn't everything (Sky ride on the heaviest bikes in the peleton); it's the power to weight ratio of what's on top of them, tactics and how good your doctor is that counts. Back on the track though, where it's all about science and numbers, I think this is where you'll find grapheme making it's mark first in cycling. | skylite
02/6/2017 10:08 | Just seen NR twitter "Almost finished week long @tradegovuk mission to Korea & Japan, Samsung, Sony,LG, Epson, Seiko, Immarsat" Interesting group of companies there. | phoenixs

02/6/2017 08:54 | the question is.....how can companies not use graphene..? | jointer13
02/6/2017 08:48 | 500g thats insane. | john henry
02/6/2017 08:34 | "Featherweight frames are set to plummet still further thanks to graphene carbon" it certainly makes a massive difference | jointer13
02/6/2017 07:47 | Lucky The process Talga use has been tried by many. In fact one lot was claiming 85% few layer with it. However when they surfaced with graphene they have a process of mechanical exfoliation which tells its own story. At the time a few years back they were talking 100 tonnes per year. | superg1 |
