Had a strange dream last night. I was with some of you in the pub (especially odd since I've stopped drinking and I've never knowingly met any of you in person), and we were talking about VRS and how few-layer nanene can stop concrete cracking.

Just a dream, doesn't mean anything.

I've been pondering about the visit to No 10 last week and the high fives etc. Who else would the guys be meeting there if not the PM? Her Press Officer perhaps? If so, why? Whatever, it will surely lead to good, big, news sooner or later.
Off out for the day, covered in sun block and insect repellent.

Does anyone know if VRS are involved in graphene development in computers/electronics industry?
I've read some info that graphene instead of silicon can dramatically speed up computers, etc.
Got to be a massive future commercial development in the next 10 years.
Apologies if this has already been answered.

War on plastic makes packaging firm RPC a target of hedge funds as they bet the firm's shares will drop further
Bets worth more than £240million have been placed against the FTSE 250 firm
More than 8 per cent of RPC’s £3billion stock is out on loan to short-sellers
By Jamie Nimmo For The Mail On Sunday

Hedge funds are cashing in on the war on plastics by shorting shares in packaging giant RPC.
Bets worth more than £240million have been placed against the FTSE 250 company, whose shares have come under pressure recently because of the clampdown on plastic packaging waste.
City firms can bet against firms by taking so-called ‘short positions’ – contracts on shares that allow investors to gamble that their value will fall.

Impact: City firms are shorting shares in RPC
Shorting is a risky tactic as investors can lose if the share price rises.
More than 8 per cent of RPC’s £3billion stock is out on loan to short-sellers, according to data from the Financial Conduct Authority.

MARKET REPORT: The war on plastic wipes £375m off packaging...

Firms that have taken out multi-million pound wagers against RPC include BlackRock and CapeView Capital, which also cashed in on Carillion’s demise.
No major short positions existed until October. But there has since been a sharp spike in activity, with RPC shares falling nearly 30 per cent.
In financial results last month the firm played down the impact of new EU rules on single-use plastics, saying it does not make any of those restricted under the proposal, such as straws or cutlery.
Analysts at investment bank Credit Suisse said: ‘The RPC share has been negatively impacted on concerns about the future of plastic packaging.

I assume it is on a sound financial footing as by the time they are published it's only a short time until the interims i.e. it's three and a half months after the event is that useful, doesn't seem so to me, for accountants only maybe?

"Versarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, will be announcing its results for the year ended 31 March 2018 on Thursday 19 July 2018."

What is important to me is where Matt is with his task, he is almost two months in when results are published (appointed 22nd May) so will we be privy to any information there?

However, there is always a chance that an RNS will answer that question in part in the run up to results.

Re the tweet below.

Yes Nigel was in Jinan with Neill. Martin Veal also mentioned is the guy involved where it all started in Bath.

As I understand it VRS did a presentation at Bath Uni to the Jinan guys and it kicked off from there.

So under the circs a relevant tweet imo.

Great evening in Bath with my friend Frank and his Chinese Delegation from Jinan. All hosted by @VealMartin - a great dinner at #Martini’s, a quick nightcap @BathPizzaCo (sponsors of @bf130392) - to watch soccer and dropped off @ApexHotels #Bath

Absolutely right lovat.....the cashflow statement is a much more useful tool these days. I can vouch for that as an accountant.

I apologise to any accountants here but I’ve lost faith in the profits number as all sorts of exceptional items get included or excluded now. Then we get adjusted profits etc etc.

I would like to see a positive cash flow statement so that we know VRS is on a sound financial footing and a bullish statement from NR. We all know what could be coming down the pipeline!

Interesting tweet by Dr Sunil Thakur Postdoc fellow at Graphene Research Institute, Sejong University, South Korea. Imagine this is Zap&Go territory.

From the Times of India.

BENGALURU: Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science have developed a lightweight, compact and efficient supercapacitor.......... a simple spray technique......... MnO2-coated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and reduced graphene oxide.

No offense intended but on IOF with figures staring them in the face no one seemed to spot that h1 production would miss by about 40 tonnes on the low end forecast.

H1 VRS includes 6 months from AAC which took revenue to over £4 mill for the period.

So simply double it and compare to the YE previous of £6 mill.

Therefore all Mr market will see is probably 35%+ increase in revenues.

So a decent jump in revenues news is coming.

Does it matter about the results?

We know that it will be signed off as a going concern, funding only if it is required and that will be seen as a positive.

What I am most interested in is what the next six months will bring and believe we all have an inkling about that don't we?

With regards to the comments about results expectations, the best we can hope for at this stage, IMO, is that we will have moved into profitability, though probably very small. However, if that is not the case, it is highly likely that this is because the company is growing exponentially which of course costs money...

Either result I will be more than happy with and will continue with my current strategy which is to buy more shares as and when money becomes available.
