05/7/2018 12:10 | ellissj - the derisking as we go is a major attraction of VRS. | johnveals
05/7/2018 12:10 | grabster an article out yesterday not 5 years ago might interestyou on oilprice.com The most overlooked renewable energy source....it would show you what motor manufacturers are doing | mj10
05/7/2018 12:10 | MJ10 - Agree that when exchanges turn around inside sensitive information it could cause trouble. Assume one scans share volumes versus exchanged Tweet contents at every rise and fall of the share price Are volumes share price direction signals etc... ? A tiny stupid thing via Tweeter can lead to a huge problem of breaking market rules. Then is it allowed to have inside information ? ... So why expose oneself at all ? Either one runs a business or lives through a never ending village gossip. CS - You can now put me onto your derampers list as I believe saddam and mugabe eras are gone ... Joking of course. | fuji99
05/7/2018 12:04 | As a design engineer in the construction industry I tend to agree with Compoundup. Eurocodes (replaced British Standards) currently dictate how reinforced concrete structures are designed. This will be the first hurdle to overcome. Then you have to make it commercially viable at the required volumes for the % concentration required for the volume of concrete used (which could easily be in the 1000's of cubic metres per project). To determine if that concrete is of sufficient strength 100mm cubes are usually tested about 7 days after a pour. I would expect any results from testing of graphene enhanced concrete to be undertaken in a similar timeframe as results will need to be comparable. Fibre reinforced concrete was introduced many years ago as way of designing out the need for rebar but this still isn't really widely used. | potsol
05/7/2018 12:02 | I'm with you, Elliss... | club sandwich
05/7/2018 12:01 | Carry on neill. Full support here. Happy to let neill create a world class UK firm in his own way. Think you find, he derisks as he goes along, ahead of the curve, protecting shareholders. His interest aligned with ours. Imo he will keep his shareholding percentage at this level for as long as possible to realise his ambition. Arm sold out to japanese btw. Aimo. Best ellis | ellissj
05/7/2018 11:58 | johnveals - sure you're right, I am by no means an expert. | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:58 | MJ10 - exactly. | johnveals
05/7/2018 11:57 | I have no concerns whatsoever about Twitter. I think it shows confidence that he is wiling to engage with s'holders/critics. | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:57 | CS - yes things are moving fast but many high value added applications come way before bulk cement. | johnveals
05/7/2018 11:55 | the fact is he is either passing on confidential info indirectly or he isn't.some on here reckon they have topped up after a coded message.i would be very wary of admitting to that on here as you could be dropping nr right in it. | mj10
05/7/2018 11:55 | Whilst I share some of Fuji's concerns regarding twitter, I have faith NR knows exactly what he is doing and working to a much larger plan. | johnveals
05/7/2018 11:55 | But then back in March they were talking to one province in China, not 5-6 ;-) My point is, things change and things are moving fast... | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:51 | Graphene in cement in any kind of volume is not going to happen any time soon, NR said as much back in March. | johnveals
05/7/2018 11:51 | Fuji, welcome to life in 2018. I would be more worried if the CEO was not on Twitter! Personally love NR’s Twitter and it’s increased my faith in the company. | cdub1
05/7/2018 11:47 | But then we thought that about batteries... ;-) | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:45 | Serratia & cdub1 - the thing about concrete is that there have been a lot of problems with new techology relating to cement additives and replacements viz. high-alumina, PFA, etc. Because of the way concrete hardens exponentially over time, it can be a very long wait to see the outcome of tests. PFA in particular was about light-weighting (as well as using up the by-product of coal fired power stations - which are getting scarcer). At first sight you might think that whatever % cement you can replace with a graphene-based additive represents weight saving and thereby haulage costs but I think this will be outweighed by the natural resistance to change of an industry that has tried to innovate in the past and run into problems. Don't just take it from me. I have a pal who runs a multi-million pound firm of Consulting Engineers which designs a lot of concrete structures and this is a reflection of his reaction to a similar article when we discussed it last April. IMO take-up in this sphere will be so slow as to have no impact on the market for graphene in the next 5 years at least. | compoundup
05/7/2018 11:43 | fuji - you've made your point, and I've explained why I disagree. If you carry on I'll put you down as a deramper and filter you. | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:42 | CS - Addiction to something is not good for business including Tweeter ... Why ? Because it diverts your attention and concentration and you could make many mistakes especially if you act in bursts according to the "mood of the moment". | fuji99
05/7/2018 11:40 | One thing on results I would note is that several things have to be considered before they are released. For example, sorting out meetings with fund managers/major shareholders directly after announcement of results. Also Arden, the new brokers,no doubt have been preparing an initiation research note so along with the audit and Summer holidays. The list goes on but there are quite a few things that go into determining the actual date results are released. | chillpill
05/7/2018 11:37 | Help ma bob mate. Even if your nonsense were true, Neil isn't the company. There is the most massive team of experts and advisors going on here. wake up:))) | ch1rp
05/7/2018 11:35 | Lovat Scout, I endorse your rec re the talgarntom tweet about the Baillie Gifford article. I still stumble around on twitter, and took a while to reach the article itself. Direct link may help others. And re comments above on Neill's approach (Spike the last) that article resonated for me. | hew
05/7/2018 11:33 | Spike_1: You are right; I've never met him. My point was that he could easily appear too naive. I agree he is a workaholic and a non-stop fighter from all his travels, connections and the way he markets the company and its products but I am afraid he could easily be sucked into something that could indirectly harm the company. I am thinking about the competition and those who would love acquiring it for a penny. | fuji99
05/7/2018 11:27 | fuji - we all agree that NR is different in terms of his integrity, honesty, unbelievable work ethic and directness with s'holders. If part of that difference is his use of Twitter then that's fine by me*. I'm absolutely convinced that he doesn't spend time tweeting he should be spending working. If he stops delivering then your criticism may have merit, but no sign of that so far. * But then I'm biased, I like Twitter ;-) | club sandwich
05/7/2018 11:17 | fuji - you've obviously never met Neill. | spike_1 |
