Firstly the term is "close period"Secondly it defines the time between completion of the accounts/results and the announcement to the public......I.e. if they weren't finalised until today or yesterday, then the announcement wasn't done in a close period anyway

If someone signs the dotted line and it's material it gets released.

The can't stack them up Heathrow-like until the closed period ends.

Closed period is about insiders on the financial results not other news that may come.

EG from a description on the topic

'There can be cases where a company must report news or statements during the close period even if it might influence share prices.'

So to think no news due because of a closed period is the wrong assumption on all shares, especially this one due to the rate of news flow.

Chill pill - the performance testing and evaluation of that machine will hopefully form a part of the update - very important that all or any teething glitches of that new piece of kit are sorted prior to major commercialisation news to be announced in would think

Turbo: re closed period and RNS.
A closed period is simply a period when Directors and other insiders cannot buy or sell shares as coming up to results they may well be aware of price sensitive info' relating to the results.

RNS's are not affected in any way, they continue as normal.

TC, re. Zap&Go, it was issued as an RNSNON, is that a way to get round the closed period regs re. RNSs? I don't know the answer btw, but we were surprised given the content that it wasn't issued as an RNS.

VRS can make a RNS regarding a contract at any time. Closed period has nothing to do with it.

If a deal gets signed it gets announced as soon as is practicable.

Worth remembering the new equipment to increase graphene production 10x wasnt operational until the last couple of weeks of the accounting period.

When I read about the analysts presentation my thought was the same as lovat if it is just the results.

If a major collaboration is announced beforehand it might be different. There is clearly something significant going on behind the scenes- most likely to be China related.Whether it will be announced in next couple of weeks or couple of months we dont know.

The last RNS of Zap&Go was on 2/7/2018. With the results coming out on 19th, this means that the RNS was released during a 'closed period' (usually 30 days prior to results).

Can anybody throw any light on how this is possible?

Also, is it possible that VRS could issue a RNS on the results day itself...?

Results cover March 2017 on, we are now in July 2018.

They only acquired (85%) Cambridge graphene 2 months before that and he first major collaboration came on Oct 31st 2017 which is H2.

So that's my point. As the CEO says by the time news arrives via an RNS it's 6 months behind where they are.

Revenue last year was about £6 mill and 35% up on the previous year, this year likely to be 35% up again at £8 mill plus.

Superg1, as someone who doesn’t have L2 or more than a very basic understanding of how MMs operate I find your posts on bid and offer pricing etc very interesting, however I would find some analysis or conclusions to be even more helpful.

Fest, my experience on companies who have had big run ups already is that the market wants over expectation results to keep rewarding. Seeing as we almost all have a medium to long term horizon on this bb it should not matter...but it will be further news not 19th July results that gets us much higher than here

My experience is that any AIM company moving from years of loss into breakeven or profit is always very well rewarded in terms of share price rise.Positive cash flow after years of loss due to R&D investment, will go down very well indeed.

Richard we already know what earnings will be roughly. £8 mill plus which is a jump from the previous year.

We know there are no big graphene sales otherwise an rns would have come.

What we do know is they have sold bits and pieces as part of the testing, no doubt some to the CPI re the tender and so on.

We are 6 months behind on the VRS curve on the her and now and results are even further behind.

There would be a lot of interest if between now and the results, VRS RNS something big and or exciting.

Discaimer - I'm not saying they will, but it's slightly interesting that the results are not on say the 13th. which we believe is the earliest they could have been.

Or it just might be signing of accounts is taking a looooong time.

I’m not convinced that without further RNS’ between now and the 19th there will be a run up of share price to earnings date. I would expect the market will want to hear further encouraging news and possibly some profit, for us to carry through post earnings event. I am looking forward to Neills comments on the 19th however, it should be a bullish update with all that has and is going on...

Late reports in play agin.

The MM Cantor moved off 138p on the offer for no apparent reason about 9.07. 1 hour later we get a late reported buy of 21k ish.

So it seems anything 20k plus gets reported an hour late.

So that's what moved the MM from the offer.

It's been happening regularly on VRS for a while now.

I fear the analyst meeting may be a non-event. Although VRS is a very interesting company, research has to be paid for now so analysts tend not to turn up unless there is an angle for them ( mostly trying to get appointment as broker!).

Smaller companies analyst coverage has been badly affected by MIFID II so it wouldn’t surprise me if these meetings are downgraded to calls, which we may be allowed to dial in to in future.
