GAW has always under promised, and beat forecast, and I don't intend to sell any when I get 20% yield on my original investment.

ABC
"Berenberg today upgrades its investment rating on Abcam PLC [LON:ABC] to buy (from hold) and raised its price target to 1640p (from 1230p)."

So the price kicks up over 4%!

They are janeann but expected. The p/e looks low at around 15 considering the growth it's just a question of whether the growth can continue. Even brokers employed by the co expect nos to reduce next yr and The statement " It would be unrealistic, if not daft, of me to promise that we can continue to grow at the rates we have reported over the last two years. I am not, however, planning to scale down our ambitions, I am just informing you of the back drop." Prob spooked the mkt

well - you could always buy those rsw back - red. I am tempted but haven't pressed the button yet.

Very surprised at the reaction to gaw results - thought they looked pretty decent and a yield of over 4%.

Between the brewery (land lords) and the govt tax, the young couples who run these big chain pubs are lambs to the slaughter I'm afraid.
The brewery sell them their stock and command the rent.
govt increase duty nonstop.
and govt continue to complicate employing people.

running a pub must be a nightmare.

no wonder these pubs are always under new management.

CLG
Net cash flow reduced.
Current liabilities higher than current assets.
Statement about being aware of High St. pressure.
Drop probably a measure of overblown expectations.

FFX
Looks to be on a significant rerating.

Although 76% above my selling price I might well by on my next divi payment. Hoping it slides off the radar. Been through all the excellent cbootle posts and now believe I understand the company better.
Actually understood it reasonably well when I bought and sold it at a profit. Shortermism!

I could write a thesis on Mars, and how not to run a business.
It would take a long time to explain, but.
1. Management poor and obscenely overpaid.
2. Older pubs in the wrong sector, under-performing and many closed.
3. New pubs based on low margin, poor quality, cheap but, even at those prices, overpriced and poor quality food.
4. Huge securitised debt pile that they cannot pay down.
5. Dividend cover thin.
6. Their refurb programme, for each new pub, likely to be £1m every 7 years.
7. Messing about with lodges, next to pubs, on the Premier Inn model.
8. Keep changing how they report sectors, so that you cannot compare like for like.
9. Bought up breweries consistently, and supply supermarkets on a highly competitive brutal price controlled market.
10. Never see any positive returns from advertising campaigns, but look at the size of competitors in the beer market.
11. Better opportunities, in other players, in an overcrowded market, who are better placed.
12. Spend by customers, in the sector, is declining.

Just a couple of negatives.

Long time since I looked at MARS so all could've changed, att.
Vague memories about too much debt and varied leasehold pubs.
Also remember red having developed views.

Judging by the share price reaction I missed something on CLG.
