Volumes have been higher for several days now. 1.5x usual today. This could be M&A related or more likely funds buying in for the special dividend (10th October) and picking up HBM's shares.

That must be a strong possibility looks like the market seems to suggest with recent strength albeit from extremely Low levels.
Or they may of had enough of the incompetence of the CEO if a bid does come along it must be one of two GSK followed by HIK.

Directors could perhaps be resigning and looking for another job as they know VEC is unofficially putting itself up for sale and time is limited on the board? Just speculation.

We could not be more vulnerable than with just one full tome Director & a passive Chairman who will probably be glad to be out.
I would like 200p per share but suspect it wont be offered-unless 2 or 3 parties decide to fight over us (as with Earthport),eh GSK,Hik & 1 or 2 others?

I'm pretty sure VEC are aligning themselves to be a target. Moving towards contract development & manufacturing organisation (CDMO) means they are basically a stand alone business unit for a major. Yes, they also have revenue streams from previous full product development and royalties but the onus has now shifted from a traditional small pharma. The IP on the delivery tech is key going forward.

I was hoping Dame Louise may fancy 1 last hurrah as CEO of Vec & she surprisingly responded to my rather cheeky email very quickly & , of course, declined to comment on my suggetion.

Wasn't Susan Foden a director at BTG that recently was bought by Boston Scientific?. Same sector, am I putting two and two together and getting anything.?

Alex, don't forget the biggest shareholder selling out...however, with that in mind were not that far from an 18 month high, so the maybe that's a good sign of the underlying strength.

FD, MD and senior independent director gone, seems directors are leaving faster than they can get appointed! I hope it is a case of changing the guard rather than rats deserting a sinking ship.

Take away the 6p divi and reduce your shareholding by 7.7% (1/13) and you are about back where you started.

I have already invested the approximate value of the special dividend in more shares, being careful to bring the total holding up to a multiple of 13. (I am not superstitious.)
If I waited, I would not need to buy so many but the share price is likely to be in the low 90's by then, all things (market, prospects etc) being equal.

Iam sure that those of us who 'discovered'Vec via SKP are relieved to see our share price slowly moving forwards ,which may we'll be connected with the forthcoming special dividend ,but hopefully there is also growing confidence in our longer term prospects and we are hopefully close to appointing a new CEO and HIk are hopefully close to announcing news re our Advair generic.
I have not yet decided whether to take the cash or reinvest in new shares

900K trade today. Looks like it may have been a buy. Looks like VEC will hit 87-88p again and then probably resume the slide back down.

I trade with SBs and the combined consolidation and special dividend appears to leave me out of pocket as the share price is above 78p, the point at which the conversion is effectively position neutral. I'm just checking with IG exactly how it will be calculated as it is clear for each of the separate cases. They are always position/cash neutral all things considered.

I expect the answer will be related to P/E. While i might appear to be out of pocket on the conversion date if the share price is above 78p, the company will still be making the same profit as before the consolidation. The 12/13 number of shares will mean the P/E is now 13/12 that before the process...so the share price should rise by the same factor.

e.g. company has 130 shares and makes £13 in profit. The EPS is 10p and the share price is 100p giving a P/E of 10. For the sake of argument I hold 13 shares. After consolidation i have 12 shares and 6p in cash. Company still makes £13 in profit but now only has 120 shares and so the EPS is 10.83p. There is no reason to assume the rating of the share will change and so the P/E is 10 and the share price should become 108.3p and i also have 6p in cash.

So what we are seeing now is the share price increasing to match the nominal P/E after consolidation...It's all a bit too involved for my liking!

edit
It is also related to how investors see a cash pile when calculating share price Is it dead, fully valued or in between?
