Further to my speculation yesterday

Valiant Petroleum plc today announces that it is launching a review of options open to the company to maximise value for shareholders. These options may include, alongside standalone organic growth alternatives, a strategic transaction such as a farm into, acquisition or farm down / disposal of existing assets or a corporate transaction such as a merger with or acquisition of a third party or a sale of the business. Discussions in relation to a merger with a third party or a sale of the Company will take place within the context of a "formal sale process" as defined in The Takeover Code (the "Code") in order enable conversations with parties interested in making such a proposal to take place on a confidential basis.

...

This announcement is not an announcement of a firm intention to make an offer under Rule 2.7 of the Code and there can be no certainty that an offer will be made, nor as to the terms on which any offer will be made.

Following this announcement, the Company is now considered to be in an "offer period" as defined in the Code, and the dealing disclosure requirements listed below will apply.

I would say

Close, but no cigar....as yet;-)

you have to ask why antrim are up so strongly on the back on that announcement

was there anything new?

the only problem is antrim are up 14% and we are down. Thats what the lack of marketing from the BOD does to the share price They really need to get a grip on this if they are to realise significant shareholder value.

The partnership is working well. Valiant get on with the operations and their PR company, Antrim, release the progress reports.

Ed, I agree on the strength of this run it should go past 500p, especially with a pickup in volume in september. Its still a very cheap stock for the amount of oil they produce.

Hi utrecht_00.

Good point about the change of accountants. That's probably the reason.

The ipo at 750p could be an issue for some of the original investors. A normal bid premium probably wouldn't get them their money back.

Causeway first oil could see you positive.

I'm planning to hold on here. Thinking this will run on past 500p.

Ed, given that the firm doesn't seem to do PR Id say its just longer to get the numbers from the accountants. Don't forget they changed auditors so maybe they asked for for time to familiarise themselves with things.

That being said the rising channel looks good, breakeven for me soon! You'd think enquest would make a bid soon.

Last year's interims were released on 3 August. Delayed this year to coincide with some good news? Causeway first oil? Rig booked for return to Timon? Final verdict on Tybalt? Crawford news? Agreed takeover price with Enquest? Or, none of the above; just took longer to get the figures?

Rising channel remains intact. Good buying interest today.

Ed, good news but silence from VPP, could do with some marketing. I'm guessing they haven't focused on Handcross at all.

Possibly.

Half year results soon and probably another presentation, so update is around the corner.

Would like to see reduction in exploration and more of the income go into development. Wonder if they've had any successs with Handcross farmout?

Maybe they don't bother with a PR department to save costs, and just let all the JV partners make all the announcements?

Antrim share price up 6%. Valiant share price flat.

I presume that the major shareholders in Valiant are getting private briefings.
