15/5/2009 13:56 | Not directly relevant, but says that Russia have a target to buy overseas oil and gas cos.... The head of Russia's JP Morgan will become adviser to the Government Comments Most terrible Russia 17.04.2009 Europe is increasingly opposed to the expansion of Russian companies The head of the Russian unit of American bank JP Morgan Natasha Tsukanova will advise the state and Russian companies in transactions for the purchase of Western foreign assets. This writes the newspaper Kommersant. Tsukanova, who worked at JP Morgan since 1997, left the bank in April. According to Kommersant, she received a proposal from the Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, who is familiar with her work on the placement of shares in Rosneft at the exchange. For advice Tsukanova create your own company. Now the government are discussing about the five projects for the acquisition of overseas oil and gas and energy assets by Russian companies, which is part of international energy policy of Russia. Tsukanova will be a consultant in the implementation of these transactions. Tsukanova in 1992 working in the Russian Privatization Center at Mingosimuschestve, where he took part in the auction for the privatization of Yuganskneftegaz, which later became a key asset of the oil company Yukos, and later - "Rosneft". At JP Morgan Tsukanova involved in developing a plan of reorganization of RAO UES of Russia "and its implementation. Interestingly, the former chairman of the board of RAO UES of Russia "and the current director general of goskorporatsii" Rosnano "Anatoly Chubais became the first Russian citizen, having been an international board of American bank JP Morgan Chase. In 2006, JP was one of the organizers of IPO "Rosneft". 15/5/2009 13:56 | Agreed, if it was a placing there would be a lot more share chaning hands. Also someone would have leaked it by now. I think this is a major seller / institutional holder just reducing nothing more. Did anyone get hold of JV ? g | gerryl
15/5/2009 13:55 | g3a - if they sold shares now then they would not be included into placement. I hope SB is forced by Gov to restructure debt using clculations based on POO at $60pb without the 47% gross taxes. Works out to same as POO at approx $118. More than enough to repay loans in 18 months time. Also Artic Neft could yet have a buyer. | seabass
15/5/2009 13:54 | WE own £13.25m shares! | carlito sway
15/5/2009 13:53 | I struggle with the placing argument, the volumes are surely far too small to make it worthwhile in any way, shape or form!? Just my opinion. | mlightfoot
15/5/2009 13:52 | Hi all - I've not posted before, and I'm only just dipping my toe into share trading again having made a bit of a mess of it last time I tried, but I read this board regularly and have learnt a hell of a lot from the major posters, so thanks to all. Anyway, if we're still counting I hold 13K, but it's not the size that matters, it's what you do with it, or so I've heard... I suspect there are plenty of others with similarly small holdings reading this who may be a little shy to declare them given the huge numbers the more established posters have, but come on all, lets see exactly how much our total stake actually is... | crunchyeyeball
15/5/2009 13:50 | Dilute your shareholding at these prices? No chance. Read the RNS again. "Value for ALL shareholders" ! | wealthtransfer
15/5/2009 13:50 | I wonder whether the recent 500k sell could have been triggered as a stop loss, or they are restrected by the market size.. I was thinking yesterday of putting a stop loss at 10 p but then thought it was too dangerous | ucasavi
15/5/2009 13:49 | scoraig, The reason behind it would be a placing of new shares to raise money through existing inst. s'holders (the directors might also partake to not have their holdings diluted). If I held 5-15% and the current share price was 10-12 and I took part in a placing at 6p...I would sell some of my current holding at 10p, partly to fund the placing shares at 6p....my selling would potentially pull the price down and then I could rebuy my stock back at a lower price...making a gain on the deal. | sportbilly1976
15/5/2009 13:49 | Agree Dusseldorf, WT. I don't think a placing here is viable, the amount of shares needed at this price would be too many to fund anything Urals need. Just someone dumping. Still only around 3m dumped in chunks, or £90k in old money from 3p. Urals need a JV or mass funding from a bank. | le mass du pap
15/5/2009 13:49 | big seller could be the placee! sell shares now at a profit and get replacement shares at the placing price. | g3a
15/5/2009 13:49 | There's no placing. | wealthtransfer
15/5/2009 13:47 | And this big seller knows about it too? | hairymcclary
15/5/2009 13:47 | I'm sure a placing is one possability | gooner6
15/5/2009 13:47 | a placing of shares to raise capital just one possibility following the recent share price drop.. | jonnyfro
15/5/2009 13:47 | Jonnyfro, was just about to post that, a placing or a discounted rights issue. The share price action and trades would indicate something along those lines. Hopefully not but it wouldn't be the end of the world depending on what it was for. | bungeetrader
15/5/2009 13:46 | but how do MM's find that out before evryone else - surely that must be classed as insider trading? | carlito sway
15/5/2009 13:46 | Why would BOD's want placing, will only to dilute their holdings. Would they have not got better return delisting. | seabass |
