25/1/2013 08:49 | The pundits are saying that a bid cannot be coming because directors of UU were buying UU shares yesterday. My understanding is that they can do this if no formal approach has been made and there are just market rumours. I still think, therefore, that a bid could be on the way, particularly given the continuing share strength this morning. | ridicule
24/1/2013 19:44 | I may close some of my UU positions. A bid is always a possibly though and, of course, becomes cheaper if GBP continues to slide. | alphorn
24/1/2013 19:41 | wad I agree. Top sliced 20% of my vod portfolio in my Sipp today. I may be wrong, but you can't knock taking a profit. If there is a shakeout, I have the cash to get back in. They are already beginning to talk down Spain again! red | redartbmud

23/1/2013 08:57 | Some fortunate souls managed to sell at 755p this morning ; I wonder what that was about. | wad collector
16/1/2013 21:31 | Lucky to get something imposed! Most companies are not in a position to even offer something. Jessops, HMV, and Blockbuster are sadly a recent stark reminder. | k8 rhm

16/1/2013 09:21 | One good thing ; the chances of drought must be lower this year with bulging resevoirs and aquifers. Maybe. Societe Generale starts United Utilities as buy, target 779p | wad collector
11/1/2013 05:51 | On the other hand it could just be rumour mongers trying to boost the price before off-loading. | gbb483
10/1/2013 08:05 | Telegraph reports that vague bid chatter among traders is back for UU. This persistence is beginning to excite the share price! | ridicule
03/1/2013 21:20 | wad I will settle for a steady one too. All utilities are political footballs at present. I get the impression that government wants to run them as semi-public services ie they want shareholders to take the risk, but not to receive the rewards. Additionally they are being encoraged to take on greater levels of debt to fund infrastructure improvements. That is all well and good but if, in the longer term, profits are squeezed then the ability to grow dividends is reduced. Any downturn in profits will ultimately have a negative effect on dividends and the share price. As a shareholder, I hope that I am wrong in my assessment. red | redartbmud
03/1/2013 20:34 | As no-one else has , this BB title merits a post in 2013. Not sure this will be UU's year , but will settle for a steady one. | wad collector
28/11/2012 07:49 | Looks a solid enough set of interims to me. Divi up 8 or 9% by the looks of it. | pierre oreilly
