Price action gets really interesting here. There was an attempt at buying around 65/66 that pushed the price back to 70. We're now sat at 54. My guess is that when the short term buying comes in, those that bought at 65/66 will be keen to get out at b/e (if the opportunity arises). This really is a serious announcement and in my view this really isn't a serious investment.

In a conference call, the company said it was open to receiving offers to acquire the company "at the proper value."Sounds not very good. No one will buy now - why not just sit on sidelines and watch them unable to service debt and pick up for nothing.Sorry - pessimistic but have just lost a small fortune

I think in buying this u risk taking a 10-20% hit if their next Guyana well is as duff as their last.I'm guessing given the guidance the mechanical issues with the two TEN wells require a workover and hence a semi in field.

Further falls are very possible here. The 38 area seems like a potential support from 1999/2000. I don't hvae data beyond that. Someone suggested they'd held this at 19p. if that's true, then the 38 I can see is not an all time low.

The market doesn't know how to value this for the moment, but over the next few days it'll come up with an estimate of value. My guess is that we'll put in a short term bottom sometime this morning and this afternoon there will be an equally short term bounce. If I'm around and focussed I'll buy that, but I don't have a buy signal for the moment. I will not hold this overnight. I think this mornings announcement is very signficant and although it wasn't said, I have 'going concern' rattling about in my head.

Yes, they are just pumping oil for the banks and bond holders. They’ll pay $600m interest to the bond holders and banks over the next 3 years since by their own admission they’ll have limited free cash flow to pay down their debt. And how will they pay back the first tranche of bond debt in 2022? Dunno. And either does the market.
