Shell is great too. TLW's is a bit of a dud. If current support goes then hold onto your hats! 2019 ought to be better.

When is the next trading update?

Not sure if the attraction here, no dividend, just to make 10% you need 240p+

I am more into BP, come off from 600p and a juicy 5.6% divi too, much safer multi national blue chip, making tons of cash

On the plus, apparently still in the running for a block off The Gambia. Looks prospective but FAR drilling there now...

It does generally speaking, but sometimes there are unexplained aberrations!

off topic - Lots of additional oil coming on the market now; Saudi, Russia, L48 added 400K MoM. Permian oil is similar API to Brent. Apparently there's not enough refining capacity in the US configured for increasing Permian volumes - so expect WTI to be exported in increasing quantities, displacing Brent.

Cheers, I'm guessing they won't want to write anything off at the moment anyway.

Any ideas on Kosmos? Unusual, eg yesterday when UK closed down a few per cent it was up in the US. I don't understand these things but does that mean there is a UK seller but not US? I always imagined it would calibrate between the two.

GHANA: During the third quarter of 2018, gross sales volumes from the Jubilee and TEN fields averaged approximately 156,900 barrels of oil per day (bopd). Production in Ghana continues to grow following the Jubilee turret remediation work and the new wells brought online at both Jubilee and TEN during the quarter.

At Jubilee, production averaged approximately 94,300 barrels of oil per day (bopd) for the quarter, delivering two cargos net to Kosmos, as expected. One new producer well at Jubilee was brought online in the third quarter, with a second expected in the fourth quarter. Production from these wells, together with enhancements to gas handling capacity, is expected to increase Jubilee production towards the FPSO nameplate capacity of 120,000 bopd.

At TEN, production averaged approximately 62,600 bopd for the quarter, delivering one cargo net to Kosmos, as expected. One new producer well at Ntomme came online in August. Kosmos expects this well to support current production levels of approximately 65,000 to 70,000 bopd through the end of the year when a second new production well is scheduled to be brought onstream to increase production towards the FPSO nameplate capacity. The TEN FPSO has previously been tested at rates above the 80,000 bopd nameplate capacity, and Kosmos expects to further test this capacity in 2019 as additional wells come on stream.

A second rig, which arrived in September, is being used for drilling operations, with the current rig set up for a continuous completion program. Taking advantage of low rig rates in the current environment is expected to accelerate the addition of new wells in Ghana, increasing production towards FPSO capacity sooner, with the goal of achieving gross production from Jubilee and TEN of 180,000 to 200,000 bopd over the next three years.

US are sellers?

On another topic. Nothing much of interest on ExxonMobil's webcast - except to say that Pluma has now spud. Imagine there will be a result in about 40 to 50 days.

I'm seeing double SS! ;-)

Our Kanuka block, used to be called Georgetown, has at least 4 very large tertiary prospects afaics. ExxonMobil's imminent Pluma drill may be testing a down-dip part of the same play! Keep watching.

Oil is looking very weak. Saudi(post Istanbul) and Russia pumping more. US shale bottlenecks will clear eventually leading to rampant growth. Trade wars/rising interest rates/refinery turnarounds slowing demand. Wild cards Iran/Libya/Venezuela. Lot's of moving parts there. Plus the US midterms! A bounce in OP would be great - but who knows which way it will go.

Have now listened to Hess's Q&A Webcast. Hammerhead (their discovery near our Orinduik block) seems like a large accumulation. Has the thickest pay of any well they have drilled in Guyana. Described as massive accumulation on a very large structure. Just done a DST with good results indicating very good reservoir quality. Reservoir seems well connected. Needs further appraisal but already talk of Hammerhead jumping up the development queue - that says it all really. Nobody asked the Q I'm interested in. Is Pluma a Hammerhead look-a-like Tertiary prospect? My hunch is Yes it is. We'll have to wait and see.

Hess Q3's today. Interesting they say about Guyana

".....A second exploration vessel, the Noble Tom Madden, will commence drilling at the Pluma prospect, which is located approximately 17 miles south of the Turbot discovery, in November."

17m South of Turbot is pretty close to the block boundary, contiguous with TLW's Kanuka Block, and CGX's old Corentyne Block. Looks like ExxonMobil will be de-risking Kanuka for us. Pluma could be another tertiary fan like Hammerhead. One to watch :)
