Looks like the kerfuffle in Kenya will be sorted out soon. Tullow will probably get some local “protection” to ensure things run smoothly. Lovely doing business in Africa isn’t it ?

Got this from the ECO BB on LSE

As well as TLW showing the 7 leads now on ECO's Orinduik block in Guyana(come on ECO, tell the world!), the TLW management explained why they chose to drill the Cormorant block first in Namibia in their conference call.

Here's the video clip of it, but the best bit is at the end when they say

'But the really big prospects are coming up in 2019 in Guyana'

Look at all their faces!

SS - IIRC TLW relinquished the Maritime licence in French Guyane some years ago, and wrote off a huge sum of money that equated to about $800m on a 100% basis. The license is now 100% in the hands of Total.

Not sure if anyone's interested in this. I hold ECO so I took an interest in TLW's recent results and their plans for Guyana.

Zaeydyus licence French Guyana They found cica 85 meters on the first well then nothing on the up dip side The French put a ban on new licences anyone have any ideas what will happen next ?

Angus McCoss, Tullow's exploration director, said: "The discovery at Zaedyus has proved the extension of the Jubilee-play across the Atlantic and made an important new discovery in French Guiana.

Tullow 27% but seems to have gone off the licence list and radar

Shell are the latest super major to dive into Mauritania. If you look at the map

the country is full of IOC's now. To think that TLW once used to be the biggest acreage holder here. What do the others see that TLW couldn't? Will be interesting to follow how MAU exploration goes. Our only realistic stab will be when/if Total drill C-18 (there doesn't seem to be much happening with TLW's other remaining block C-3).

South Sudan have terminated discussions with Total for Blocks B1/B2. Total's partners were Tullow and Kufpec. Bit of a shame as the oil, which is thought to be there, would have been evacuated via pipeline to Lamu in Kenya. Would imagine there's now truckloads of brown envelopes heading for Juba, kindly donated by whoever gets the licence.

mario -I think the reason for 2H FCF number to be that low is because of the Capex which seems heavily weighted towards 2H. I jumped the gun thinking first half headling FCF number was brilliant but when reading closely realiesd it was all down to low capex. I think TLW should cut the capex by $100mn to offset the litigation charge a bit...

Frazboy,

The opposite. Tullow look naive and KOS shrewd. Assume companies would rather go with the non incompetent partner.

Tullow have shut down Kenyan oil fields due to security issues with locals, not sure what that means in terms of overall production for Tullow, Mcdade says it’s temporary.

And the wind has gone out of our sails. MAybe people are still disappointed by the payout but in fairness that's history now... a rise of 1.5p good grief! What does Tullow have to do?

mariopeter - "The Group has recorded an additional pre-tax income statement charge of $143.9 million in respect of the unsuccessful Seadrill and Kosmos litigation described on page 3." explains some of it perhaps.

Back in profit, positive cash-flow and slide 10 (I think) says we are currently only geared to 2 * EBITDAX and our target is 2.5* EBITDAX so there may well be room for dividends at year end. On slide 9 did not understand why "underlying" fcf for second half should be lower than the first half maybe that's prudence.

Looking forward to hearing about Ocean Rig Poseidon action in Namibia. I do know that a strike there would be significant as targets in Namibia (being drilled and being de-risked) can be vast although vast pools of water so far but oil kitchens have been found by CHAR.

The shares are correctly starting to respond. This is my favourite vehicle (currently!) for riding the upcoming oil price spike
