It is all action. Tritax Eurobox (Segro shares) and Balanced Commercial Property (cash) have announced takeovers today and I hold both of them, as well as Trident. It seems that the market has decided that it is time that I went cash heavy and /or re-thought my portfolio.

I can't see much that is compelling, and have more cash in the portfolio than usual even before the takeovers go through. Just at present, I would not be complaining if the market had a gloomy 4th quarter to throw up some attractive buys!

Agreed, the gain in price based on the time schedule, is greater than the interest on the cash if you sell now, so may as well wait just in case shareholders demand a higher price at the vote

With gold and silver strong the next quarterly figures due before month end should highlight how cheaply this is being sold. Whether that changes anything is debatable but I'm holding on to see how this pans out

Strange that someone has built up a stake of over 5% when everyone else seems to be selling and voting to agree the offer, what if they do not reach 75% agreed votes and a counter offer arrives......

i bought this as a long term hold. I liked the management, and thought they would build the business and look to having some of their more speculative investments contributing revenue before looking for an exit. I even looked forward to the day a dividend would be paid .....

i am not so chuffed with the management now.

I shall come out ahead, but it grieves me that having sold my entire holding a while back at 58 because the share price seemed to be getting ahead of events I bought back pretty quickly at 58 (much too quickly in the event - i subsequently topped up at 31), contenting myself with a small profit on the turn as I regarded the holding as a LTH rather than a trading play.

So much for the LTH.

I really feel for anyone who bought in the 50s and is going to be exiting at a loss.

Publication of Scheme Document. Court date July 26 three weeks from today, to permit Scheme to be put to shareholders. Longstop Date October 31 (was to be September 30, which would have been pushing it).

Timetable is in the Scheme Document which is here:

Big volumes most days, begs the question, who is buying all that stock, the Aussie bidder??

Is the Trident Royalties bid good for shareholders?

The commodity royalty group is being bid for by an Australian rival

@Robsy because I don't want to have a majority exposure to iron ore. If I would want that, I would just buy LIF:

They have no management, means all income goes via dividends straight to shareholders.

the potential in TRR is the thing. 22 assets that hopefully will all contribute at some point the most obvious is Thacker Pass. I would rather the undervalued TRR in my portfolio that will have large gains in the future.

Why don’t we all buy Deterra stock?

pogue, they have some cracking royalties. I'm sure you'll agree the number is less relevant than the quality.

Goes to show how different views can be. Common theme seems to be "shareholders get shafted". Can't be true on both sides in this case though surely.

I'm not sure Adam has done too badly for shareholders here, though maybe looking after his own future at the same time. Deterra seem to have been under some pressure either to add value to their portfolio or to cut their disproportionate overheads. Unsurprisingly it seems they chose the former.

More on the deal here from Money of Mine:

They have 6 royalties TRR have 21! They are getting a bargain and vastly increasing their portfolio!

With a 50% dividend cut, of course they are not happy. But they always knew,
that this day would come....

Deterra shareholders don't seem very happy either! (Though I'm not sure they understand how to value what they're getting, esp Thacker Pass.)

They have been trying to sell it for a few months why do you think there is another bidder that they don’t know about?

I bought this for the long term, putting faith in what appeared to me to be a very strong management team which I thought really understood the sector.

I was half right. The management team has built up a decent little company, and is selling out for lucrative positions in the buyer company. They do indeed understand how to profit in this sector .....

I shall come out ahead (just) but I kick myself that after I sold my entire holding at 58 i then bought back shortly afterwards at 56. At the time i congratulated myself on a quick turn to get my cost of capital committed down. Now i see that i threw away most of my profit. A reminder not to count my chickens.

A point well made 888. Adam should extract more for us all.
