A new British study suggests that future hydrogen-based energy systems may still disrupt climate, as hydrogen is a secondary greenhouse gas. Unless leakage from the synthesis and use of hydrogen is carefully controlled, the expected improvement in global warming gained from replacing fossil fuel-based energy systems would not be fully realised.

Vauch - you realise that story adds consumer reality to the virtue of Hydrogen?

If you can stop and fill up the tank with hydrogen in 5 years time , with no emissions and use almost the same tech as today would that not be a solution?

Also it is all well looking at replacing oil as a fuel, but it will take many more years than 5 to fill the requirements.
Look at battery vehicles, the infrastructure cant cope now so how the hell will it when we have 3 x the amount on the road.

I'm looking at the macro view for oil in the future.
We know that there are a lot of people that believe we should not use (or invest in ) fossil fuels.

So if it works and is cheap enough there could be a lot of "virtue" in moving to hydrogen.

Then look at other industries which have a built in future decline in demand... what happens to them ?

I guess you may be wondering , why mention it now?
Because the guest was on Bloomberg this morning.

I'm not sure if you are being flippant, sarcastic, silly or indeed agreeable. Either way due to the rapid payback timescale this project will command a lender won't be too worried about a 5-10 year plan to replace a small percentage of the oil production with hydrogen. They have their money back well before such a scenario.

I guess they will not be able to sell it and it will not replace any demand for oil ever...

There's a long way to go to make hydrogen safe to even consider substituting oil in everyday use. Would you put your kids in a hydrogen fuelled car!? Maybe the ex wife but not the children!! Of all the things I worry about over Tomco the ongoing need for oil, in our generation, is not one of them.

Bloomberg guest this morning says that in 5 years green hydrogen will be cheaper than oil.
In ten years cheaper than coal per mwh....

We got the pro video with Martin Groat and John Potter on Friday 10th September in which they said that they hoped to complete the purchase within a couple of weeks, then added maybe 3 weeks .. The couple of weeks ends on Friday next week.

So hopefully news during next week.
