Brother Bob

BOIX does not know more than any of us. We are all sheep in this game. We are going to get pounded heavily with our pants down tomorrow.

Shorters got us by the goolies.

BOIX isn't there more value for shareholders in splitting the parts than selling the whole group?

Brothers and sisters

Early morning gun-blazing tomorrow to 80p. Futures are down heavily.

It will be a bloodbath, and the market is starting to react to high inflation and a potential recession. Retailers will get hit in the recession.

Shares that are getting shorted gets hammered on red days. I fear for all of us.

Sounds like it’s going to a PE and not surprisingly MM wants to go with it.
Need an independent Chairman to ensure impartiality and transparency to sell deal to shareholders ASAP.
In my view it’s going to a PE at a price (not surprisingly) well below IPO valuation.
That’s a tough sell.
Always thought 220p-300p was tops but at least a few will fry.

bldm - 11 Feb 2022 - 10:13:55 - 10635 of 11382Personally, I see things improving a bit with THG. It's too early for me to buy just yet but I am less negative on it than I was a week agoI think there are multiple people using this account. Early tonight bldm got quite giddy about shorting and now it sounds like a completely different bloke. Maybe time to get a new avatar as your cover has been well and truly blown. B4 you go can you be honest and tell us if you are an independent shorter or do you work for someone?

Bob, I'm not short THG. What we do know is that you're a loser. You've been wrong every turn, have some humility.

@Schoedar, I hope you are right and I am wrong. I really hope so mate. And it very well could be - what you are saying makes perfect sense. You could also be wrong and I mean very, very wrong. I rarely short stocks - not my game but I keep a few short positions because they are very good for the portfolio. My best shorts have been companies that have fallen 90 to 90-something percent and are basically on the way to bankruptcy. It's free money then - I've always wondered why the market leaves free money on the table.

It doesn't seem that THG will go bankrupt, at least not in the next 6 months but I can see it going to the unthinkable 40-50p. It's ridiculous what has happened.

This strange situation is a mixture of several factors. When this happens, you just can't know how low this will go. People have been quoting many sayings but the one to quote here is "The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent". Nobody said what's happening has to make sense which is why I've said - don't even try to understand it, just get out of it. Whether it's manipulated or not, you don't want to be in this stock. Take the money, put it in another company and you'll recover the lost - plenty of company that are down 50, 60, 70 percent and are recovering.

UNCOOKED ALERT: THGToday 19:34UNCOOKED ALERT: THG said to ... - Part 10Wednesday, 23 February 2022, 7:21 pmThere is a suggestion circulating that beleguered THG, the London-listed online retailer, is weighing the appointment of a heavyweight chairman in the next couple of weeks.According to people following the situation, the company - run by the controversial Matt Moulding - has narrowed its shortlist of chairman candidates to two senior City types.Quite why Moulding, the current executive chairman and chief executive, and the THG board want to appoint a proper independent chairman amid of period of interest from private equity remains to be seen.Anyway, there is a THG board meeting in late February, according to people following the situation. So one presumes all may be revealed after that...?..

Shares should not be treated as friends and family, perhaps a gold digger.

Always cut the gold digger loose.

@bldm

If DE Shaw are as smart as you think, they have probably been shorting at 0.49% for months and deliberately flipped over on Boo and here to 0.51% to provide further panic to drive the inevitable retail capitulation which, timed to coincide with Putin's invasion, will give them the perfect market conditions to close out with ease to maximise their profit. I honestly think opening a new short at current prices is a brave call.
