Do you not understand the macro environment and its implications to 'Growth' type stocks albeit with an incredibly hawkish Fed Ham...But those boring stocks whilst not providing the bullish returns one expects will probably end up delivering the solid gains!

...Its bizarre why on the various BBs, its always the same rather 'Unlearned' that gather together and can't quite see the wood for the trees unfortunately...No names mentioned of course!

BEWARE the Knicker Sniffer Frunkle : Do the opposite of what he says and you will make a fortune in the markets....simples

Well, don't but here then. For me, at these prices it's good value.

I remember you when I posted on the M&S board a year or so ago after I bought in around 90p.

And whilst I hold M&S, don't you think 5% wage rises will hit them worse (70k M&S staff vs 10k THG staff), pensions, plus the rates, rent, heating and electricity bills all getting pricey?
Online retail is leaner during tough times.

Frankel, not sure what you are saying, you don't think its good that most my portfolio is boring stocks and only a small percentage is risker ones like this with larger growth prospects?
The boring ones have near doubled (and hopefully got another 50% in them) and now starting to give a nice income, the others, a smaller portion are for trying to increase capital value quicker, growth over income. And a part of the riskier lot are value stocks where I hope the share price to go back to part way to where the highs were before, but sorting their processes and managing profits on existing revenue levels.

I put THG in the growth for revenue and growth for market cap as I think its also a value stock.

Anyway, way too much posting here, sorry :)

See you all tomorrow!

I think the best thing would be MM tells officially that multiple PEs have approached THG and are in talks and it will take a couple of months to get to any decisions.
Then just leave that out there, the rest will be done by the market.

Handy (lucky for some, unlucky for others) that 6m or 7m share sale recently from the board member (or director?) could potentially have freed up a chunk for a large (below 0.5%) shorter to potentially exit their position entirely.
Straight out of the Fortean Times that one :)

If loads of extra shorts were taken out in January, what's their average? 200p?
If so, they need to exit before that area before they start I cutting losses.
Any any firm details about PEs sniffing around would mean the company isn't going to be sold for anything less than a big loss for the January shorters price.

Well that just exponentially exacerbates the shorters problem then :)

It's way higher than 0.6%, as you are just seeing the disclosed shorts, which are above 0.5%.. you could have 10 shorts sitting at .49% and they would be undeclared.. there's an article from January that said the number of shorts exploded in January compared to October when the allegations of shorting started.

If there are 1.2bn shares out there.
And the known short is 0.61% (shorttracker)
So that's approx 7.3m shares out there currently shorted.
The average daily traded volume is 9m to 10m
So if that current company who hold the 0.61% wants to exit quick then need to buy best part of a whole days average trading volume.
Now if they are competing to buy against those who are new investors and those who are topping up, then that could cause a bun fight???
As mentioned by others, there are other undeclared shorters who are below the 0.5% level, chuck them on the mix and happy days :)

Anybody who thinks MM will sell the company for 200p is sadly mistaken.

Found this with THG 97th in top 100 at 0.61%, as per matching shorttracker, but again is that just based upon anyone having over 0.5%??

Edit) although that list has CLLN as no. 2 ????? Old list?

E2) list must be ok, as same as shorttracker 100 list, hmm, CLLN still got a heartbeat?

Gold is an inflation hedge, it will rise, and sharply. Interest rates will not rise as much as spoken about. For one US is already paying $350bln + per annum on its debt, and rates are still pretty much zero. They cannot afford to pay double that, most countries are already talking themselves into a recession with all the talk in the media. Yield Curve control is the next tool in the bag to be brought out, last step they can utilise. Inflation will be about until supply chains repaired, and Govts. realise that carbon free world is not possible in the time span planned. There will be a total breakdown in society before long, law and order basically out of control in many areas, but desperation not here yet. We’ll see in April when the lights are turned off!

On LSE they mention £120m or similar of shares on loan to shorters, is that true, if so where did they get that info all I can see is shorttracker and i think that just shows large holders of shorts, ie those who have to declare.

Or maybe I misread the post there?

I think the most shorted share is CINE at 8.84%, others in top 10 down to Currys 10th at 4.03%
