04/1/2006 13:30 | Artisan should pay a dividend at the finals and Stevens should turn his attention to the share price. He should help by doing some lead buying in the market and talk his book for starters. | bylow
04/1/2006 13:12 | Looks like lots of little sellers over the last couple of days. New Years Resolutions kicking in maybe? I will continue to add, the share price has got to revalue sooner or later. | ![]() steeleye
04/1/2006 13:08 | I believe only 2 options here, start paying dividends (although makes sense to retain cash to reduce borrowings) or sell. I suspect both of these conflict with the wishes of the largest shareholder. Seems little interest to drive the share price. The board have a duty to realise shareholder value so lets sell the lot. | gizzimodo
04/1/2006 10:21 | how many more solid years of good performance (we have just seen 2 with a 3rd in progress) would be required to remove the acknowledged 'barge pole' factor? | ![]() sll
04/1/2006 10:00 | Does anyone here care about copyright? With a few up my sleave, I'm already bumping up against copyright issues with recording my orchestra. Luckily, it has been established that Go games are not covered by copyright, though some people would deem them to be Works of Art. | ![]() sbs

22/12/2005 15:05 | what's up art-ers? i'm an old holder, long since waved goodbye to my original investment at 19p or so! so at least it won't be hard to average down! have kept half an eye over the years and seems to me that, for the first time in years, it's on the right track and there are no more serious obstacles to progress. i see no real reason for it to be rated at 5 when the sector average looks more like 8, or 11 for the darling - persimmon. it must be attactive to the likes of them at this price with the tnav where it is. may just be too small to bother with. but it may take a while to remove the "wouldn't touch them with a barge pole" mind set in the city. it burnt a lot of fingers in the past. and the 13% spread alone is reason enough for most not to touch it with said pole, before they've even thought about the merits of the company. when that spread narrows, i might come back and risk those fingers again! | ![]() a1canary

21/12/2005 14:48 | This is the reply I received from the CEO about the outcome of the litigation with Aviss and Infiniteland: Thank you for your email. We are currently evolving our strategy going forward. In essence the Board's view is that unless there is a real likelihood of securing actual funds, we are reluctant to consume further time and expense on the matter but will retain a watching brief. With this in mind we have searched for available assets of Infiniteland and Mr Aviss. We have secured a position where modest funds should be forthcoming from the disposal of his remaining property. As for assessing costs there are three actions to consider, the main hearing, the appeal and the petition to the House of Lords. Each of these is dealt with separately. Dealing with them in reverse order:- the House of Lords did not reach the position whereby formal hearings were held and the rules are that no costs order can be made. As regards the appeal costs, we have received £75,000 on account and there is a further small amount remaining in court. Therefore we have arranged to have the costs assessed to attempt to recover these funds. As for the main hearing, we have received £350,000 plus interest on account. At present we see no other significant assets of Mr Aviss and therefore it is not sensible to expend further significant funds, at this time, assessing the costs or pursuing the debt. We will keep this under review. This may seem a brief summary, but much consideration has gone into reaching this overall position which strikes a sensible balance between the pursuit and the assets available. It may seem that there is not much more likely to be recovered but I would remind you that we have collected a not insubstantial £456,000 already. Chris Musselle | bylow

21/12/2005 10:20 | My favourite art is sculpture, because I like the feel of things. Unfortunately, for some reason, the Powers That Be think Art should be only visual. This made me think of some of the differences between art and music. One is that the composer and performer are distinct with music - although perhaps the interpretations being posted here about pictures correspond to the musical performances in some way ;-) I play in an orchestra and get to bask in the reflected glory of the great composers. I've put a mobile blog of my latest concert dress rehearsal on my thread. | ![]() sbs

18/12/2005 23:38 | canford....I agree that when Stevens came in and acquired control he should have removed the CFO and made a clean break with the past. Since that time it seems that the CFO (now the CEO) has done a creditable job in repairing the balance sheet and cleaning up the corporate governance. The damage done to the share price is obviously taking longer to repair than anyone who has stayed with the company has expected. I personally do not think that Artisan is on the radar screen of the City traders or pundits, but that is not to say that there could be no interest on the part of shrewd contrarians in considering a bid. It's just that I have the impression from the tenor of Stevens public statements in the past that he has no interest in selling out at the sort of price that would be offered. I think he is in this for the long haul. This makes Artisan a good punt at current share price.Eventually, the pundits will catch on and people like us will have the opportunity to profit. | bylow
18/12/2005 14:29 | jak.........I have contributed to your thread above in relation to Griffin Group. Perhaps we should make it clear on this thread that Dean is no longer associated with Artisan(as far as I know) and that Artisan has now shaken off all the nasty mess that Dean left behind after his sudden exit. | bylow |
