25/8/2019 10:48 | Do you remember a few years back how both Tesco and Sainsburys make a big hoo-ha about taking on more staff and now just a few short years later are getting rid of them. I not sure if this is standard Tesco, however in my local Tesco many of the shop floor staff are either Easter Block or from the Far East whereas M&S are mainly local and except for in the gents department all seem to be female, Waitrose have many from the local sixth form college and Aldi staff come mainly from the local council estate as do those from Iceland Foods. | loganair
25/8/2019 07:48 | That's very noticeable in store Logan, can't find something in Tesco ask one of the staff and he/she will dash of and get it or show you where it is, do the same in Lidl there's never a staff member to ask. You can't ask the till operator it might disturb him/her from chucking the customer's items at him at forty items a second. | vaneric1
24/8/2019 15:04 | Per staff employed, Aldi and Lidl are by far the most profitable, 3 times more so then any of the big 4 supermarkets. | loganair
24/8/2019 14:56 | There's no link, its happening at my store. Trimming the sub-manager level leader positions and multi-tasking staff. Also no till staff after 20:00 apart from amanging self-service tills, apparently. I always thought the I Don't Queue methodology was costing too much. | yf23_1
24/8/2019 10:23 | Sainsburys and Asda have already made their staff sign similar contracts, higher basic pay in return for no paid breaks and no extra Sunday or Bank Holiday pay. | loganair
24/8/2019 08:31 | Tesco in a race to the bottom as far as staff, trying to push flexi contracts on all. Union useless, stop paying the fees. not an employee myself but have a reliable source. | steve4003
23/8/2019 08:49 | Its probably that metro story out just over a month ago. | nathdani
23/8/2019 00:39 | I missed that staff changes news. Anyone got a link ? Can only see stories about banning excessive plastic packaging. | philanderer
22/8/2019 22:44 | Did they not do this a few years ago and left the shop floors to short staffed and cost them sales? | tim 3
22/8/2019 18:06 | Will most probably be cutting the wrong staff leaving Tesco even more top heavy then it is already. | loganair
22/8/2019 17:54 | Lots of staff changes coming to cut costs. Turning into a more lean outfit. | yf23_1
22/8/2019 17:36 | That Lidl voucher is in The Metro tomorrow (friday) not today. "Tesco has pledged to ban any brands that use excessive packaging from its stores in a bid to reduce plastic waste." | philanderer
21/8/2019 17:00 | Yes, LIDL are now in Uxbridge having knocked through three vacant stores in the shopping centre. Plus a new Aldi and 160 bedroom hotel in Staines under construction. £5 voucher in The Metro newspaper tomorrow for Lidl on a £25 spend. Relentless. | philanderer
21/8/2019 08:07 | Aldi opened a store near us 2 years ago at first it was quite and I thought perhaps the bubble has slowed (I know its only 1 store)but now its very busy u can see why kantar every month is reporting a slowdown on the big 4 .they are also cheaper than Tesco on a lot of items we buy even with 10% discount . | nathdani
15/8/2019 11:19 | buywell, are you on ADVFN USA site? My header clearly shows LSE:TSCO, and price data is correct for the tesco we know and love. I often use USA site and do see US firms appearing in the header. | thamestrader
15/8/2019 10:06 | nathdani, with you on the SAYE, no lose gamble with the opportunity for large gain and still over 25% ahead on the 2017 option price. | ladeside
15/8/2019 09:14 | Over 50% of the total area in this thread header is devoted to Tractor Supply Company Ltd of America Listed on NASDAQ as TSCO | buywell3
15/8/2019 09:10 | In fairness to you buywell we would not buy any shares in anything at the moment but we do SAYE so its money back .But I also could not short if I had a CFD account it just does not sit right with me. | nathdani
14/8/2019 17:13 | Remember TSCO NASDAQ chart in this header is for Tractor Supply Company Ltd DOW dropping like a brick now I can't believe any sane long term experienced investor wanting to buy any FTSE 100 share now or at any time in the last few months The writing has CLEARLY been on the wall On nearly every FTSE 100 constituent Chart buywell has single handedly tried to give ADVFN the heads up The BEAR has finally woken UP after over a decade of slumber and one of the LONGEST BULL runs for the last century. IMO it is NOT now impossible for a Bear Market for a conservative 2 years to 3 years duration I shall check charts and comment with more accuracy soon dyor | buywell3
14/8/2019 16:43 | Yes I agree but the bigs ones normally come when no one expects it. | nathdani
14/8/2019 15:04 | It's nothing Tesco specific but he does have a point with regards to a market crash coming............ | ladeside
14/8/2019 13:13 | Shorter don't u just love their dribble. | nathdani
14/8/2019 13:06 | Supermarkets dropping today Not so great thinks buywell --- certainly not super at all And that with a mere 70 points drop today 7000 not even hit yet buywell believes 6000 will be here by xmas dyor | buywell3
14/8/2019 11:21 | On items that have a long life span I go into the retailer that it selling it at the cheapest, even more so if the item goes on offer then buy several years supply worth, this saves me over £1,000 per year on my shopping bill. I also understand the difference between CHEAP and VALUE for money. | loganair |
