Sentiment, I think we might if the Asian business is sold for $9.0 billion outlined on Phil's news! With a bidding war who knows where the price will end.

Thailand’s PTT retail unit said to bid for Tesco’s Asia business

The retail unit of Thailand’s biggest energy company PTT plans to bid for Tesco Plc’s Asia businesses, competing with other Thai corporate heavyweights for the operations worth up to $9 billion, people familiar with the situation said.

Hi konrad. I wouldn't be holding for the release. Just looking for sector to lay out maybe 10-15% prior. But even if only 3-5%, be out anyway.

Sentiment, I would be cautious of being short. What happens if in the next quarter Tesco sells the Asian business and announces a special dividend. You might be hit both ways then. Funding the special dividend and an increase in the share price.

A reasonable Christmas and third quarter in a difficult market. No update on the sale of the Asian business however I guess this will await the year end.

In fairness to tesco re 2019, it has yielded capital return on the x volume average price paid, @ 8.5% as of today

On 2020 current average price paid, currently yielding value rtn @ -1.1%

So be a lot of interesting adjustments tomorrow on the data, all around

..................

This was an auto short at 253, if data wasnt so near.

Gap down today favours the bulls a bit more really... but it was extensive money leaving after top end of december run.

Everyone has a case for the open lol

certainly agree to date on the inverse. Cant be argued

Since 2012, TLGF up about 73% - TSCO down approx 23%

Actually do not know why they would sell it.

I dont know konradpuss

All i know is, the guys that have dealt in this sector as a speciality for over a decade, elsewhere - see it negatively. Sale price expectations and so on.

Not my forte though, so you could be right too

Sentiment, perhaps the price has collapsed because if the buyer of Tesco Thailand levers the group up to the hilt the covenant strength will 'go to hell in a handcart'!

It appears to be there is an inverse here, the more the buyer pays the lower the share price of the Lotus thing. Bring it on!

PS - the Thai's love it

7-11 are very connected over there. You would be surprised what they can achieve to be a right pain on it.

No disconnect in asset values surely though?

Either way, i am surprised that many talk about the Thai operation and never refer to it. Especially when share price collapsed just after rumours of a buyer

Sentiment, it's a property fund owning some of the Asian freeholds of their stores.

I think there might just be a little disconnect between owning the freehold and owning the operational business. Well anyhow that's just my opinion!

The asian business stock is getting hammered on the SET listing. So, something up there sat the mo

Whatever reaction the data brings, its difficult to see any positivity into the 1st half of the year thereafter - given the staggering discounter cash-take and growth yet again
