Interesting piece in the Times about the move for Sir John Kingman into Tesco bank.
He was one of the potential candidates for Carney's replacement when the time comes, so must be very strong in financial capability terms.

It was a very sad day yesterday for share holders of Tesco. As Dr Clive Black said, Dave saved Tesco.

I think Dave is clever enough to know don't pass your 'sell by' date. I happen to think his date was well into the future. However we must respect his decision.

The world and I mean the world is this fellow's oyster.

I hope the new fellow can do 50% as well as Dave.

No doubt Tesco will be jumping on the Sainsbury’s bandwagon and cutting their managerial staff.more for the share price no doubt.

Sophie Lund-Yates, equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: "Tesco appears to be in a good position, and has worked hard to fend off rising competition in the sector. Investors will look forward to hearing Ken Murphy’s plans for defending, and expanding, Tesco’s enviable market position in due course"

Olny red flag possible is that new man is from Walgreens Boots Alliance and their share price performance has been very soggy over the past year -

Dave has trimmed this company into much better shape and it is good to remember this is supposed to be a defensive stock and the dividend is going up too. I am reasonably bullish on Tesco. We all know the challenges but all companies have challenges.

buywell said when Dave arrived all he needed to do was

chop down sore numbers
shed staff
reduce the numbers of products

Easy stuff done and now he is off

Hard part now is for the next guy with numbers not far off flat after all that fat removal

Jacks idea is IMO a bummer

I think a smaller market share with higher margins is the way to go.

It is seemingly more and more that Jacks hasn't really done that well and taken off.
