Still no reason for the Fund Managers to rush in here, imo they'll wait until the special dividend is due.

That sounds about right to me.. 5.5% div, every gov dept is shouting build - build - build.

I am buying on every dip.

Just to think it through a bit further. an idea...

With all this cash flowing around the top 6-7 builders.

Could an M&A oppertuinty for one to pounce on another..

Just asking.

FTSE waiting for the DOW to open and inform our traders which way they should be swinging today.

m4rtinu - Few could argue with your final comment. it's been that way since records began - The final straw for me was invites to London to rub shoulders with the Head Quarters staff, meet the Elite & talk about awards - Been local interest only since that experience.

I've seen such articles and TV programmes as far back as 2002. It hasn't happened yet!

Telegraph said UK houseprices are set to crash

House prices have broken free from reality and defied gravity for far too long, but they are an asset like anything else, and there are six clear reasons a nasty correction looms in the coming year .

Good TS this morning, however I wonder whether the housebuilders have gone as far as they will in this cycle, barring healthy economic conditions continuing for another 5 years

GBH - a lot of uncomfortable truth in what you say, though I wouldn't go quite so far.

I volunteer with a local charity helping asylum seekers in this country and a more satisfying job you couldn't ask for (as I expect you found in your voluntary work). But, and I know you are referring to large charities, they do need a surprising amount of money to keep running.

I agree that in the national/ international charities the top tier get paid a lot. I also understand that there is corruption in the government of countries where there is often severe hardship, poverty and starvation. Asylum seekers from some parts of Africa tell me this.

But, I feel we have to trust the likes of UNICEF, Save the Children, Water Aid, Oxfam to make a difference. But we should definitely monitor them.

GerdM - As for separating our own concerns, which indeed are trivial in comparison (eg Shares SPs v malnutrition), from the real problems in the world. All we can do is help where we can, donate time/ money if we are able and at the very least be moved by news and images when we hear/ see it. But you are right to remind us to keep things in perspective :)

Finally, most contries are run for the benefit of the few over the needs of the many. It is obviously a darn sight worse in some than others!!

Looks like a good statement to me, couldn't find any negatives in the figures or future potential, guess I'll have to wait and see what the institutional investors make of it.

I have to say it is comfortable to hold these views, gbh and gambos because it insulates us from reality. Children everywhere are suffering in these harsh times.I suspect it is the same people who accepted the gains of slavery that complain about "hand outs". Where is your heart? Economics is not the only factor in assessing these issues but some folk seem unaware of the ethical dimension, preferring to explain it away in the same arrogance as sustained slavery. I imagine I will be filtered along with GerdMuller. So-be-it.

If UNICEF paid less to their senior executives they may well be able to spread a few ipads around and encourage people to look after their own needs rather than waiting for hand outs !

There's not many underfed heads of state in these countries that are full of kids suffering from malnutrition, maybe unicef could encourage them to throw a few crumbs to their starving population rather than feeding their own fat faces.

I'll let you worry about that and Filter your comments henceforth,

My heart really does bleed for you. All those nasty institutions trying to take money from you.
And some people only have to worry about the malnutrition killing their babies.
Perhaps Unicef could issue them all with iPads so they could follow your plight.

Institutional greed set in now, they know they can drive the share price even further to buy back nearer the dividend date, they've no regard for PIs and they have the advantage of much cheaper dealing costs.
