Taylor Wimpey rebuild is gaining momentum
Russell Lynch
17 Jan 2012

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey was dicing with death three years ago but its recovery looked well on track today after an "encouraging" start to 2012.

The builder, which was created through an ill-timed merger on the cusp of the housing collapse in 2007, said the property market last year "surpassed expectations" with momentum continuing early in 2012.

The firm, which sold 10,180 houses in 2011, has seen a 17% jump in visitors in the first two weeks, chief executive Pete Redfern said.

Redfern, likely to announce Taylor Wimpey's first dividend payout in five years next month after slashing the group's debts to £120 million, said sales buoyancy had been "pretty much across the board".

The firm expects to hit its target of double-digit profit margins a year early.

Another 10% would be 46.5p, I reckon that's feasible as a short term target

While an increase in operating margin was expected, coming in ahead of schedule was "very encouraging," said Jeff Davis, building materials analyst at HSBC. "Taylor Wimpey is more evidence that the sector is rebuilding profitability," he said, citing the beneficial impact of developing land bought more cheaply since the recession, which should continue to support operating margin growth in 2012 and beyond.

It's hard to say what will happen next tbh. I do believe a pull back in the next day or 2. Or at least i hope so as that will then clear the way for the next leg up. I'd rather the share price takes a breather now then makes a nice slow climb for year end results.

the fib does not convince me, if more candles where touching the fib rows in the middle then it could be a potential target, no reason for this not to go much higher now.....

Surprised we're not 50p+ already...

They could be debt free this year with NAV of 60p+...

Strong buy for sure...

just my thoughts. seq.
