Thursday isn't the big day, Friday is. Based on US news last week and recent housebuilder reports I would be very surprised if TW. didn't gain on Thursday. My question is whether or not it will hold onto the gain on Friday. Today's performance is certainly impressive.

Mortgage approvals are 'up' on last month as the previous figure for Feb was revised down from 35.3K to 33.4K but I bet you didn't hear that piece of news from the housing bulls.
and hey presto this months figures at 34.9K are up. marvellous:-)

The way I see this we will,at some point, get another day like Friday with 3 or 4p rise in a day.
I think the shorters and hedgies were caught out last Friday by the US snippets of info and had to close some shorts that they have been using for quite a while to keep this under control.

Yesterday and so far this morning,I think they have been opening their shorts up again to try and get this back down but they will be wary about the figures and any other news that may come out so may have to close again a bit sharpish if we get good news.

Here's hoping.

Lending down: hardly surprising as they would only lend if you have a large deposit. So folks having to buy cheaper properties.

Approvals up: Suggests things are picking up, whether due to more buyers appearing or lenders relaxing the criteria.
