I've seen that other shares are now rising slightly however with the uncertainty of the building sector now being shut down as non-essential I would have thought that would have a further detrimental affect on the share price

philoosh from my own past experience shares that don't pay dividends or small ones have done better for me than companies that pay large dividends, Reason for share price climbing, well that's a no brainer really, I will let you work that one out.

>Trump’s comments that he’s becoming more fearful of the damage being inflicted by the cure than the virus itself.
Hadn't seen that comment, I'm no Trump fan but have to agree.
Re UK, we could make extra ventilators and places for them to be staffed/used.
Working people continue to work, edlerly etc remain shielded.
I would expect the cost of such facilties to be less than 1% of damage of lockdown.
Figure off top of my head, but must be trivial small compared to damage to commerce and foks livlihoods.

Jugears/all:
Good to hear of the real world Jugears, sat viewing the world from a pc.
Nice too that you are fortunate for work mates and friends to be the same.

A funny day in that Boris's talk last night seemed another notch down for lockdown, then hearing of site closures today I'd expect share price to be hit but today seems like a turning point sentiment-wise.
I bet the sun had some good effect on mood.
As a LTH of most, I don't deal that often, and hung back for Brexit/election to get out the way, but today I sold GFRD and bought VTY as former didn't go down as much and VTY seem to have the biggest bounce potential on my short-list. They were spread across several accounts and for both buys and sells I had to do many refreshes as shares not available, and sums weren't that big.
5% up already on the VTY top up, though academic for a long term buy, just nice to know you haven't called it wrong on the day. I did 6 deals between 12 and 13.30 and seems good timing with increases kicking in around that time.
I went for my first MTB of the year today. OT but all helps the psyche for trying to rationalise the weirdness.

Link here if you don't have it already for CV stats in UK

Most bad news is factored in to price any good news re cv & the ft will rocket, As all of my fellow businesses on my estate have decided to close today & a steady stream of my customers have also decided to close, I have decided to run the business with just a skeleton core staff,Even going back on the shop floor myself for the time being, Even though I am sure the hosing market will recover very quickly, I am not so sure my smaller builders will & have already drawn up a private list of companies that sadly will not be with me in a few months time, I have never laid any staff of in nearly 40 years & whilst they will all be paid it has been a very emotional day as we all work together as a real team, these are people that are not only my staff but my friends as are the people that work in the units around me, for an hour this morning a small group of us (standing more than 2 metres apart) stood chatting about the current situation in the sunshine as we do most days, something that won't be happening I suspect for a while yet, I am going to miss the laughter & the banter we all have,Today was not a very good day!

I think they should ask shareholders whether they'd like to roast your private parts over an open fire.

Perhaps TW could follow the example of Stagecoach.
"Our Directors are sacrificing 50% of their salaries / fees for a period of time, will not receive any bonuses for 2019/20 and will not receive any pay increase for 2020/21;"
