Your company will now have massive issues on

The build side

Security ( 24 hour )

Fixed overheads

No service connections ( A real killer )

Massive snagging issues as new owners see what a dump they have bought

No labour ( subbies over 50 walk away )

No materials.

On the sales side

Broken chains

Cancellations

No new sales for months

Cash flow

NEW RULES ON STAYING AT HOME AND AWAY FROM OTHERS, here:

I note:
"Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home."

My reading of that is that builders can go to work for physical stuff, and architects with online CAD etc are to do it from home.
Each building company will no doubt make their own decison if they want to go with that or be more restrictive and close etc for reasons of safety, practical, insurance etc etc.

DR SMITH it's only a paper loss I'm sure it will all come back in a year or two.

At 62 I'm not sure how much money I need until 103 but in the last few weeks my loss would have bought a Lamborghini. Ironically, even though retired, we cannot follow your example and travel the world.
I have in the past and I believe it makes us better people, seeing life from different perspectives and often it is the poorest folks with the biggest smiles.

Thank you ,without boasting I am well off ,I have lived in the centre of London for many decades , I also have a flat on the seventeenth floor on Brighton seafront ,and that’s where I came to a few days ago ,I have spent my life making money without realising now that I am old I don’t need it ,I’ve travelled the world and have everything I need , I have many close friends who will do very well when I die , my advice for what it’s worth is if you have enough money to retire early then do it ,don’t hang on to money you don’t need ,I wish I’d done it ,

Alan: It is my elderly neighbors b'day today, so I'll copy to you what I sent to him:
"I read recently Vera Lyn is still going at 103!!! (I’d assumed she’d died decades ago). So you are a mere boy! "
His wife died 2017 too.
Maybe you can literally dig in and enjoy your garden with the warmer weather. I believe gardening is a wonder drug for many of lifes problems - well Monty Don says so and he's BBC so that it makes it official!

Dr Smith ,I am 81 years old with no living relatives, my wife died in 2017 from a massive stroke ,we had fifty happy years ,so as you can see 12 weeks looks a certainty for me ,I have lots of TW shares which are way down from the price I paid , I’m just going to dig in and wait ,

Alan. Gulp. Hope that wasn't said sarcastically. We all have strengths and weaknesses business wise, so realise my post is "obvious" to most here.
Anyhow, what's this about 12 weeks??....google google...
24 mins ago:
"And the NHS is contacting about 1.5 million people with serious health conditions to urge them not to go out for at least 12 weeks. This is known as shielding."
I am guessing 12 weeks is a minimum, with new rules as and when more known.

Clarky,
Your description of the different 'investment and FTSE... Sectors' is correct and the explanation that was required.
However, and without doubt, it is all Construction!

I have no worries here. The management will do whatever they deem best to protect shareholder value, few companies are committed to returning shareholder value than this one. It can now also run lean and mean to protect the core biz, and it will be able to turn on very quickly once this is over. Unlike some other of my holdings I see this purely as transient dip, with a buying opportunity.
