Best place to look is CYPRUS

Hundreds of thousands half built houses across the island

Start dates from 2006, to 2009.

Gives you an idea

There you go, TW have closed their sites.
There is likely to be weeks/months of disruption, whether it be via the supply chain or on site.

This is on top of btl investors already selling. I think that will accelerate over the next few months....
Plus they still have to redress the leasehold scandal...

I still think house prices are likely to crash on avg 30-40% over the next couple of years...

I think all major HB's will follow suit and close and cancel dividends, keepmoat homes shut last week.
Further to that imo the government will force HB's to shut for health reasons.

newbytothis, obviously not, But the decision to close as far sites were concerned hadn't been made a seven this morning, Not all sites have closed but I suspect a decision will be made later, IMO better we all shut now & get it out of the way sooner rather than later,Nice to see TW have made the right decision perhaps we can get back to capital growth now.

TW AGM comment:

"Accordingly, we have taken the decision to cancel the 2020 final dividend of 3.80 pence per share (c.£125 million) that was due to be paid on 15 May and the planned special dividend payment of 10.99 pence per share (c.£360 million) that was due to be paid on 10 July, both of which were subject to shareholder approval. As a result of these actions; Resolutions 2 and 3 will be withdrawn from the AGM due to take place on the 23 April."

email extract from selco..
"all Selco branches will be closed on Tuesday 24th March, and no customer deliveries will be made on this date.

Selco’s parent company, Grafton Group PLC, is continuing to discuss with Government the feasibility of continuing to provide essential repair and maintenance products over the next three weeks.... We will therefore be updating our website during the course of the day with any developments... "

Big decisions for bosses affecting folks livlihood etc, so no doubt require couple of hours to talk with coleagues on what can and what can't be done and damage limitation.

The official line, from Robert Jenrick (the Housing Minister) which was "tweeted at 22:03 last night:-

Advice for the housing, construction & building maintenance industries:

If you can work from home, do so.

If you are working on site, you can continue to do so. But follow Public Health England guidance on social distancing.

Outside of work, remember to #StayHomeSaveLives

Well I have heard nothing from any sites to say they are closed except for a shop we are working on.

It isn’t very clear as to who are allowed to go to work. My son works for a major manufacturer - not health related - and his union has advised workers to turn up as usual.

Looked out of my front window this morning and was not surprised to see the two builders doing some groundworks for an extension to the block paving on a house close by happily digging away. Is this their one bout of daily exercise and are they related? Perhaps the new driveway is crucial to the wellbeing of the general public?
