I tried the "Long Term" approach when I started in 1997, over the next three years my two investments grew from 50p/share One to £14/share and the other to £19/share.

At the time I was 20 years younger & working internationally so my investment interest was low to none existent maily because I believed that Long Term was the way to go.

I a nutshell I first checked how they were doing Christmas 2000 the one that touched 19 quid had run into trouble and was at 17p/share.

The other was Pace Micro, even though one had tanked I hesitated too long to get the best price, that said I made a packet before the share price fell back to 30p.

2008 I also took a beating with Lloyds & the Bradford & Bingley, on the understanding Cash is always safe in a Bank, I'm still waiting for a return on the LLOY investment.

These days I trade and or hold but watch it like a hawk, each to their own approach :))

Why sell a very well ran good company ,I don't need the money I have a very profitable business & property income & as I see these moving a head when the virus is sorted I have no worries, add to that I pay 40% tax so there is little point selling & I have no intention to line the tax mans pockets!I am not in the market to dip in & out of shares,After nearly 40 years investing I have proved to myself many times over that investing for the long term pays better dividends than trying to play the market, They rise they fall that's investing. Once I put my money in a share it stays there I do not have time to trade, As they say if you dont sell you dont loose & that has worked well for me. Also if the dividend is still paid I get more shares that will be worth even more in a few years time. It seems to.me that there are a lot of investors on here that probably invest money that they cant really afford that is called gambling,I invest money I can afford that to me is investing & that is what I am an investor.

Jug, I find your posts interesting - always have. But for someone who clearly states he has 325,000 shares in TW, I'd suggest you've lost perspective with reality whilst they've seen £227k disappear from your holding in the last month...!
After such a significant rise since the £1.60 mark, I'd at least have taken half off the table a month or so ago.
But as someone stated earlier... Each to their own.

hand sanitiser is over-rated, apparently. Kills the good bugs too. Soap should be enough

My sympathy is with people who have been putting money away in their pensions. The company pension deficits are going to explode.Everyone is exposed to the stockmarket (they don't think they are)but they are.If you're perspective is infinite then there's no cause to worry I suppose.Anyway, the Fed has come in this afternoon with a massive repo exercise....simply put,its injecting massive liquidity into the money markets to assist the US economy through this crisis.

The S&P has hit 2500 and is attempting to stabilise. For a number of market pundits, this is a pivotal level. The markets might fall lower but if it attempts to gravitate around that level, there might be some respite.
