30/3/2020 13:48 | I believe 25millon has already been spent on the development for asthma & lung infection. So you this the company shouldn't recoup any development costs. Top business man! | ![]() bobaxe1
30/3/2020 13:38 | SNG001 already works on viruses they just need to trial if it works on this particular virus. | tidy 2
30/3/2020 13:33 | nobby - if the Cuban reports are to be believed and the interferon alphas are working on Covid patients, and they are not great anti-virals does that mean that the betas will definately work (if they are considered to be better anti-virals (are they?)) i.e. a fortiori thanks | ![]() hms_trader
30/3/2020 13:32 | Whilst £1000 pet treatment is much less than the cost of an ICU berth, if SNG can turn out the treatments for... say £200, such a 'mark-up' would surely be regarded as unethical profiteering. I was wound-up paying £1.99 for a box of paracetamol in our local post-office. Lidl have since had a delivery. The same box in there yesterday was 27p. I'll swerve the post office whenever possible henceforth - same principles will apply everywhere. Meanwhile, l doubled My meagre holding here early this morning (49.8). Sat on the patio, feeling the warm sunshine - and smug. | ![]() 801710245
30/3/2020 13:29 | Yes like SNG001 they would need to do a short trial. However, as I say it is not really an anti viral in the same way plus will be iv or sc not inhaled so very unlikely to work. | ![]() nobbygnome
30/3/2020 13:29 | Jev1 yes I know if they look at overall cost it works out better but under normal circumstances it takes considerable time and the use of health economic models involving a lot of delay! My point is under emergency conditions that is dispensed with and approval just gets waived through | ![]() dave444

30/3/2020 13:22 | Interferon alphas are different cytokines from interferon beta and are not great anti virals. Not really a competitor.... | ![]() nobbygnome
30/3/2020 13:18 | Just posted on a German blog ( translated for those who don’t read Deutsche) Interferon Alpha-2B from Cuba The antiviral agent Interferon Alpha-2B, developed by BioCubaFarma from Cuba, could soon be used in Germany to treat Covid-19 patients. The active ingredient marketed under the name "Heberon® Alfa R" has been approved in the People's Republic of China since 2007 and is used there to treat corona patients. Interferons are signal proteins that play a role in the body's immune system. They help the immune system to better recognize cells infected by the virus and to disrupt the multiplication of the virus. Biochemists divide these messenger substances into several subgroups, of which the alpha and beta interferons are important against SARS-CoV-2. Drugs with interferon beta-1a and interferon beta-1b are currently being tested against Covid-19 in studies. The German company Merck is making its interferon beta-1a drug available for a larger study by the INSERM institute in France. Both active substances do not have approval for antiviral therapy in the EU, but in laboratory tests interferon beta-1a was able to stop the proliferation of the related SARS viruses. For an inhalable form of interferon-beta-1a, the British company Synairgen has received approval for a study in Covid-19 patients. | ![]() makendon
30/3/2020 13:17 | Dave Nobby suggested an SNG treatment cost of £1k. The cost of an ICU bed for a patient is far higher, so it's financially in the NHS's interest too. If it succeeds and I'm of the opinion it will, saving lives and saving money. | ![]() jev1
30/3/2020 13:13 | Already in phase 2!This could be a very good 2 weeks here, as the markets are getting a beating | ![]() bobaxe1
30/3/2020 13:09 | this drug wont just save peoples live but, from a politicians perspective, it will save their nations economies. there will be huge demand if this is a successful trial | ![]() hms_trader
30/3/2020 13:05 | Also remember every single politician in every country is fighting for survival - they are and will continue to throw absolutely everything at this to improve their chances of re-election! | ![]() dave444
30/3/2020 13:03 | In all these cases the extent of the emergency overrules normal practice so it will be adopted straight away and the other positive the cost of treatment which normally is key will be overlooked | ![]() dave444
30/3/2020 13:01 | If the trial result is positive the pressure to approve the drug straight away will be immense. No further trial will be needed IMHO. | ![]() nobbygnome
