7 days and ticking....

Gave 1 month for an announcement on this on the 14th January. I don't think my 2000 shares will make any difference to the market :) but having held for 8 months, knowing this could go into #XAR, #DDDD, #SLP, #TMT, #TSL, #POLR, #REDD - all different categories with signs of movement - is frustrating.
Sod's law will be that I sell 48 hours before an announcement but following the last update and the long wait, now concerned that nothing is coming of note. And the cash running out is a big concern too. 7 days before I pull the trigger and hoping SRT pull it before me.

The budget is all Covid orientated, so nothing going as yet. If things get better over there (and Duterte is all over the place re Covid and re China - getting a lot of stick for buying their vaccine amongst other things), they might be able to get some things into the budget to start next year, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The plans are probably oven-ready but you know the length of time it takes for the budget cycle. A finished IMEMS with lots of little triangles to show the parliamentarians will no doubt help them understand, as well as further coverage only involving adding transponders. I think the system is designed for 400,000 vessels.

I understand that, after the Middle East contracts, the next phase of serious ones is expected at the end of the year.

Talking of oven ready, my Private Eye made it through today. Well happy.

Re Pedro.
I believe that LAV is the expert on Philippines budget. My understanding is that the Philippines Coast Guard has identified a serious amount of money to be spent on a MDM systems contract. It may be that increasing China tension will allow the budget to be fast tracked.
What are Lav's thoughts?

Ha. My only motive is seek clarity before making decisions. If somebody tells you the only way to get to 6 is to add 5 to 1 and that all other methods are not sound that sounds a little odd. I would rather question the narrative rather than being herded along by it.

LazyJ - are you suggesting a cynical attempt to dent morale and drive down sock price in order to buy in cheap? Lol

Monkeyisland, I claim no detailed knowledge of the product but I do know it is not exclusive to the Philippines project and is made for sale in every part of the world. Where you say the base station “requires̶1; an Internet connection, it is just as possible that it doesn’t require but is merely capable of connecting directly to the internet depending on how it is configured. If you think this point is material enough to query why such a product would be specified for sites without permanent Internet access, perhaps it would be better if you took it up with SRT. Simon Tucker is usually happy to field enquiries from interested investors.

'U.S. President Joe Biden announced on 27 January that he plans to sign an executive order that commits to a “30 by 30” goal first envisioned in the Ocean-Based Climate Solutions Act that was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

The “30 by 30” plan aims to commit 30 percent of lands and oceans to conservation by 2030, which in the House version of the bill entails a complete ban on “commercial extractive use” in areas of the ocean conserved.'

That's a ban on commercial fishing in 30% of the ocean owned by the U.S.
That will take the need for MDA and enforcement to a new level in lots of sea areas.
They will need some high quality kit...

Alter ego if you scroll through the images of the link provided by Lavalmy for the base station you will see on the rear of the unit it requires several connectors. One of which is clearly marked Internet.

It occurs to me that the existence of a RJ45 socket on the Base Station fascia might not signify that it requires a dedicated Internet connection to operate. It is labelled “Config” which suggests it is the means by which the device is configured before installation. Since AIS isa radio wave based technology doesn’t it seem more likely that that is how the base station transmits data?

Quick response LaValmy(0522am)!! You could get a job at the cabinet press office lol.

As you seem to have good connections into the company it would be good to know of the 120 Base stations you quote how many of these are installed and operational, providing valuable data to the customer (BFAR?). Maybe this would be better suited as a direct question to the customer as they own these. The link you provided on the product seems very similar to that which Marine Traffic provides free for the hobbyist. Interestingly on the SRT base station product it would appear to require an Internet connection via ethernet (or perhaps Wi-Fi). In a developing country like the Philippines I would highly doubt that an Internet connection is available at all 120 locations? Therefore a GSM cellular modem or the installation of a dedicated Internet line woul be required (if available). This surely brings in the issues you rightly highlighted with cellular availability and I would imagine is intensified with the population density of the Philippines in low land-line Internet availability areas?

Could well be a smallish H2 loss. I think the market suspects that.

Agreed but showing another year with a loss on limited turnover will be unhelpful.Cash wise they seem fine for time being

Pinkfoot

Remember there are no forecasts to miss or hit. The only real unknown is payments/milestones/revenue recognition on the BFAR contract. I can't remember what I worked out a while ago on that. £9-10 million of revenue left plus £5-6 million in receivables?

It looks like the UK will not be letting people travel freely for a few more months. These vaccine passports seem to be good idea, if it is shown that vaccines reduce transmissibility. Most boffins seem to think that they should.
