10/8/2017 05:44 | That is of course true CT. However excepting bankruptcy all shorters have to turn buyers at some point. In this instance when they choose to buy back I would suggest depends on how much they would care to lose. As of last night 100% of those shorting SPD have positions that are under water ( Apart from those that went short at the death last night (no one?) who are at break even). I think what is coming to the fore here is the fact that this is going to be the largest company by turnover within the next 2 or 3 years. Given acquisition profile (plus of course organic growth in sales) this is a matter of absolute certainty. | undervaluedassets
09/8/2017 16:59 | Not always!! If the company goes broke those short need to buy zilch, not that it applies here, just thought I would make the point UVA. "undervaluedassets9 Aug '17 - 08:40 - 5573 of 5584 0 0 Shorters borrow next door's brand new Mercedes and sell it on the hope that the price of Mercedes will go down and that they will thus pocket the difference when they buy a another brand new mercedes to return to their neighbour. The point is that shorters always need to buy a Mercedes to give back to their neighbour. If the price of Mercedes goes up they lose of money. If it goes down they make money. Whatever happens at some stage they HAVE to buy a mercedes. All shorters end up buyers" | clocktower

09/8/2017 08:32 | Terminated.. shorters sell they do not 'soak up sells'. They are sellers of borrowed stock. The thing about shorters is that they HAVE to become buyers at some stage to close out. Real sellers never have to buy again. The tide has turned and (and with good reason) there is a bull market in SPD stock. The reason that the price is going up is that the buying enthusiasm is greater than selling and punters are happy to pay higher prices. | undervaluedassets
09/8/2017 08:09 | I reduced yesterday but would look to buy on the dips. Still a fan and always will be no matter what my position. | nortic 007
08/8/2017 21:37 | Yea but if shorts are increasing that could explain why any sells are being soaked up, it could be shorters trying to find the top. | terminated
08/8/2017 16:13 | you are right Terminated. And of course as we hit yearly high after year high - every single one of those shorts is losing money currently. Unless - and it's unlikely this - some have been short since March 2016 in which case they are showing a minute profit. Well If this stock goes through 430p the shorters are going to get butt-fxxked to 600p The sensible ones will be quietly folding. | undervaluedassets
