MA could be waiting for bankruptcy though. There is more than one way to gain control of a company. But regardless of FinL Spd is a share with a lot of downside risk. It tells you something when MA regards Debs and FinL as better investments than Sports Direct!!!

Just bought FINL at 7.72 or approximately half of what SPD paid. If they are serious they come out forceful and bid for the co now imo.

The biggest problem here is that as the share price lowers the more DD will feel the need to comment exponentially.

Another 35M$ down the drain in US after market. FINL traded at 7.95 or 25% down after profitwarning. If they really see value in FINL they should challenge the protection programme installed today by FINL and give a bid at the 15$ level. Would love to see the 20+ % shorts scream.

I can't believe there is optimism on here about the Debs and FinL stakes. How many of you have actually gone through the Prelim results I wonder??? If you go over the numbers it looks like the SD model is in trouble hence the investment in other businesses. In other words MA is gambling the shareholders money. And I don't fancy the odds.

Useless Why not post that on the FEVR board? You have the perfect handle, a PE means nothing for high growth stocks, it's the PEG that's key to value, anything less than one is still good value - FEVR is

Fevertree is a decent company but in my opinion massively overvalued. 1 bad rns will send the price crashing it would to any company with such a ridiculous valuation.I sold my GMD for a handsome profit. Not in anything at present. I like oversold value traps. Any suggestions anyone?

Be careful itcm1, I'm a troll according to the LTH here!.Yep I agree, think the short leases coming up for review and the potential synergies with GMD are potentially a good fit. That said MA needs to focus on SPD organic growth strategy not retail punts.DD

DiscoDave4, good to read some sanity.

I am glad to see you did so well on GMD. My take is MA is a lot more interested in the 200 leases that are expiring at Game and that he may take some of them on, perhaps for a new sports business.

As for Debs the last figure I saw was a 120m investment but he has added a bit more since. Potentially a total loss. You are right he is on the hook for a fair wedge, not to mention the fees for trading on margin.

UVA - I am ready, willing and able to argue with the MA strategy.

Linking SPD to Next is farcical, it's like saying Man City are Newcastle's main rivals in the Premiership!!! Next is a very well run company that has returned vast sums in dividends to shareholders over many mnay years. Sports Direct on the other hand is a chaotic organisation that is badly underperforming given it's position in the market and hasn't ever paid a penny out to shareholders.

If MA could run it properly, Sports Direct would be worth about double what it is now. The fact is he has tarnished the brand and hasn't been able to develop it in any meaningful way. Now he is embarking on various projects instead of organically building the core business.

I think if he goes for more volume it will be a disaster. The worst possible outcome is he ends up losing so much of his Debenhams investment he ends up owning the company. There is going to be a bloodbath on the high street this Christmas and there will be many casualties. I think the very last thing you want to be investing in is a troubled department store business.

Like any strategy, the buy low sell high approach only works if you get your timing right.

pps aaahhh it was my old mate undervalued assets who thinks the DEB balance sheet is sound......wouldn't know a solid BS if it fell on his head. You do know how MA's put option works don't you undervalued?. Just for you, a put option is the ability to sell shares in a company over a specific period and at a specific price. The buyer of the option is the one who decides whether to exercise it.In this case, Sports Direct is the writer of the option. It receives a premium payment but has no control over whether the shares change hands. The buyer, who has not been publicly identified, is the one who makes the decision. If Debenhams' share price falls significantly, Sports Direct would either be forced to become a significant shareholder – at a loss – or pay the party on the other side of the option in cash. If the share price rises, the buyer would probably not exercise the option and Sports Direct would not end up with the shares. As a result, for the period of the option, Debenhams will live with the prospect that Sports Direct will become a large shareholder if its share price falls.mmmm makes you think doesn't it, particularly after the recent holdings RNSDD

Hello SPD four, thought I'd pop in and say hi.Well done chaps, nice to see nice people doing so well.Must thank you all as well, I made some decent day trades here whilst chatting with my besties, I also caught wind of good ole Mike buying some GMD, so followed him and currently looking at a 52% paper profit in about a month.........so thank you all from the heart of my bottom.DDps Think one of you on here, can't remember who, said the DEB balance sheet was sound - think you need to read it again, £260m debt, negative equity and a fair chunk of pension payments every year (£9.5m + RPI). It's a value trap IMO, but then WTFDIY - going on SPD sweet FA.

I was stopped out at £4 on the 18th. I figured if it broke that barrier it would continue downwards. Was slightly disappointed at the time but I'm happy at that decision now and managed to lock in just under 40% from this.

All the very best, gentlemen. May we meet again in similar circumstances 😊
