Have just received 2 Emails this morning one from Natwest Bank the other from BMclain at Spectra who informed me that they are speaking to Computerserve to see what can be done to ensure that electronic dividend distributions are used instead of snail mail and paper based dollar denominated cheques. The Email from Natwest confirmed the delay in them processing Spectra Systems dividend cheques received from Jarvis. The only discrepancy was that the 8 week yime delay quoted by Jarvis is an under estimate as Natwest claim it can take them 10 to 12 weeks not 8 weeks. It beggars belief that in this electronic age of nano second transactions holding shares in a company involved in making the handling of paper cash safer and more efficient, not to mention dramatically reducing opportunity for fraud being perpetrated is mind blowingly frustrating. Just think of the currency fluctuations that can occur in a period of a few minutes let alone 12 weeks plus several extra days to allow for postal handling. All we ask and expect as shareholders is that we receive the correct amount of Spectra dividend promptly paid promptly with the correct amount of US withholding tax being applied. I will be contacting both Jarvis and Computerserve again to find out the correct process required for he administration of our W8-BEN forms which are both current and in force at the time that Spectra shares went ex-dividend. Sorry to have been the main cause of bogging down this Spectra thread with non specific company product news and information. Hopefully at some future date all Spectra shareholders will eventually have their dividends paid on an equal footing. IE

I wasn't arguing that trading as not lived up to our expectations and I am as disappointed as anyone. Although of course the large sensor contract will transform the P&L for 2/3 years. My point was that the inability of some brokers to do their job in connection with the dividend is somehow the companies fault and their unwillingness to sort is an indication of their desire to delist. That to be sounds like nonsense

Change broker, I'm sure SPSY divis were the reason i left iDealing, well that and abysmal customer service. In my experience HL, AJ Bell and II deal relatively well with SPSY divis specifically, and non-UK domiciled companies divis, withholding tax etc in general. Even if you don't want to move everything, just do a partial transfer for SPSY and run the two accounts.

I'm not sure if the ''nonsense' accusation is aimed at me or not but when we look that despite all the verbal bluster from the Co, that from the 5 years from 2015 to 2020 Revenues have increased just 4%,( I accept an increase of 11% into this year), over the last 2 years free cash flow growth is stalling and dividend cover of x1.1 is slightly below that of 3 years ago. On the figures it seems the Co is pretty stable but stagnant IMO. Surely any Director who is doing his job correctly would be looking to cut costs especially when no funding is, or will be, required, as at the end of the day that is the purpose of AIM in particular. I would guarantee the BoD have discussed de-listing at least. Ot they wouldnt be doing the correct job. Off course I accept I may be talking more total nonsense, but that's not my problem is it?

There is some nonsense being spouted on here. I guess that happens in a vacuum of news. This is an issue with poor brokers not the company or computershare. It is not spectra or the registrar's fault in my case that the broker that took over from ii in my SIPP didn't set up the bank mandates and so received a cheque. I got my dividend from IG and Ii weeks ago but still wait in my SIPP a bigger question might be why in this day and age it takes NatWest 8 weeks to clear a dollar cheque

Which would explain the share price action, especially in the face of a lack of news flow and failure to deliver on ''transformational'' possibilities

Have just received a written response by letter to my complaint against Jarvis who dismissed my complaint out of hand as they claim that they received the cheque from Computershare on 25th June and promptly passed it onto their banker, Natwest who claim that it will take about 8 weeks for the cheque to be processed. I have copied all the correspondence onto Spectra Systems Directors and asked them if they could put pressure on Computerserve to persuade them bring their archaic administration up into the standards expected in our modern electronic 21st Century, or failing that to consider changing to a UK Registrar who can provide a reasonable and timely service, especially as they are presumably not acting as a charity and being paid handsomely for providing substandard professional services to Spectra Systems. Clearly complaining to the Financial Ombudsman Service about Jarvis is likely to prove fruitless as they will say it is nothing to do with us it is Natwest, our bankers who are responsible for causing the delay. Presumably I can't complain against Natwest because I am not one of their direct clients and Jarvis don't seem bothered with pursuing the matter as there is no loss to them, except when clients close/move their accounts to another incompetent broker. What a complete fiasco all this is, in correspondence received from Spectra Systems they say that they are surprised at the lack of UK shareholder interest in company matters such as voting and attending AGM's. I for one are not in the slightest bit surprised at the mounting apathy by Spectra Systems shareholders, which is such a shame as I believe this is potentially a very sound financial investment, although the most frustrating investment I think I have ever held! Having repeatedly been banging my head against a brick wall and deciding that it is beginning to give me a headache - I think I will take a pill. or perhaps several to see if this manages to change anything! Have a good weekend all IE

It really pains me to say it, but if its nominee accounts then HL or IG seem the best for divi distribution.

Why not just move them to a broker that does things properly ? IG only take 15% off for WHT as long as you have the correct W8 form. Also if you want to sell you will then need to get the broker to dematerialise the certificates. I had to do this recently on another share and it took a good while and £150 per certificate

Alex Hutchings X-O's Corporate Actions Manager has acknowledged my complaint and during our telephone conversation confirmed england80's update above that they are trying to arrange for Computershare to pay all future SPSY dividends electronically. I am considering converting my electronically held SPSY shareholdings in non ISA designated accounts into certificated shareholdings so that all future SPSY dividends only have 15% US withholding tax deducted, not at the 30% rate. Although selling any of my SPSY shareholdings subsequently cost effectively would require them to be transferred back to another execution-only broker to avoid the extortionate dealing costs charged by Computershare. It is such a shame that UK SPSY shareholders are so badly served by the current administration processes.

X-O have said that they’ve contacted the registrar to ask whether it is possible to receive any future SPSY dividends directly, rather than by cheque. If they can make this happen then hopefully we won’t have these payment delays again.

Thanks fozzie and england80. I will make a formal complaint with X-O in the hope that they can get their act together. I would have used the dividend to purchase some more SPSY shares at the current lower price range.

Hi Investoree, I too am still waiting for my SPSY dividend in X-O. Chasing this dividend seems to be an annual event. If enough of us complain about it then at some point the penny will drop and they’ll figure out its easier to improve their processes than to deal with the complaints. Wishful thinking.

One factor that I think also is weighing on spectra is the feeling despite what Nabil says that cash is reducingThis is what DLAR said today In Currency, De La Rue continues to experience strong demand and is building an order book in line with its expectations for growt

AJBell only pay after the registrars cheque has been banked and it has cleared, even they paid some time ago. I would suggest X-O are telling porkies here.
