Remember from last weeks rns we get good premiums to the HH price due to location and supply to power generation companies;Ian Atkinson, President and CEO of Southern, commented:"We are very pleased to close this highly accretive acquisition. Our team has already begun optimizing the newly consolidated assets including through marketing opportunities, with additional volumes and access to the Florida Gas Transmission sales point, which is currently receiving a strong premium to NYMEX Henry Hub, and the rationalisation of operating costs. Unmoved in London at the open, I can't see it staying like that for long.

I am hoping natgas will be around 3 in September. Read lots about Asia, Europe, another out of commission plant in the US and hot summer increases demand. We shall see.

Nice to see NG , let's see if it breakout higher , Still cautious here , May see short term higher NG prices though Reading latest news longer term NG prices forecast to remain low , which is frustrating to read UBS forecast for later this year https://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/us-natural-gas-production-at-a-record-high/

HH up 7.5% p.m., TSX SOU finally responding, most of the rise probably being a bit late in the afternoon for London to bother to notice.

We have had a good rise from 16p to 25p. Give it a wee while to 'consolidate' and gas price to stabilise/continue up and we will follow - some news could be helpful?

With global warming this summer A/C energy usage could be higher than ever.
Look at the state of the temperatures here and it's only early June! Heatwaves followed by thunderstorms are usually July/August not early June.

At the moment these factors drive NG prices from my reading , all educational Storage , weather , and impact of renewables demand being main ones so far We have storage inventories news due today as well https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/market-insights/latest-news/natural-gas/060723-slow-pace-of-us-gas-infrastructure-buildout-is-recipe-for-disaster-williams-ceo?_its=JTdCJTIydmlkJTIyJTNBJTIyMmU1YzNkMWMtYzM2Ny00ZjkxLWJjNWEtM2Q5NGRkMjE1YzMxJTIyJTJDJTIyc3RhdGUlMjIlM0ElMjJybHR%2BMTY4NjMyMTM1OH5sYW5kfjJfMTAwMjJfc2VvXzIxNzJmN2RhYjk2MWFjOGU5NzBmZTM2OWY3NDdhYmNhJTIyJTdE#

And that would be higher still with the premium to HH received by Southern.

www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/report/natgas.php "We expect the U.S. benchmark Henry Hub natural gas spot price to rise in the summer months, averaging just over $2.60/MMBtu in 3Q23, up from an average of $2.15/MMBtu in May. Rising natural gas use in the electric power sector and flattening production growth – which together contribute to storage injections that are less than the five-year average (2018–2022) in the coming months – are the primary drivers. The Henry Hub spot price averages around $3.40/MMBtu in 2024 in our forecast, nearly 30% higher than in 2023."[/quote]

Small impact at present But I guess it depends how much internal disruption impacts supply Over long term Hot dry weather is a problem in that region and will probably happen again
