07/9/2023 16:07 | I think it's telling watching the price action of both companies - WestRock up but SKG down... Really fail to understand Mr Smurfit's thinking behind this deal.. | cfro
07/9/2023 15:28 | UKX trackers will need to sell?, as they state unlikely to be a premium London listing - may have that wrong. | essentialinvestor
07/9/2023 15:25 | So far as I read it will still be listed in London so trades in UK still subject to Irish stamp duty of 1% - Not sure about American listing as no US stamp duty nor US CGT on overseas holders (That is if I remember my tax law correctly) However will still be Irish with-holding tax but not sure about US tax - US with-holding tax applied to non US residents - So initial gut feel lot of extra administration for holders - But as usual DYOR e&oe. Taken off watch list. | pugugly
07/9/2023 14:07 | WestRock Up about 8% pre market stateside, those gains may not hold. Sold another few. | essentialinvestor
07/9/2023 10:55 | I had trouble sleeping last night with the heat and seeing this news did not help as SKG is a relatively large holding for me. TS is an exceptional CEO with a proven track record of value creation and one who knows this sector inside and out (family history) however integration on this scale raises the risk profile. SKG have excelled at regular small bolt on buys. Sold a few. | essentialinvestor
07/9/2023 10:47 | It's not just the US listing though it's the fact that it will be a much bigger company that doesnt really interest me. | cfro
07/9/2023 10:26 | I need to see more details first, about the benefits. I've no problem with a us listing, ive done it before. I need to do a new W8Ben- form, i it goes ahead. Think my original one expired now.. | igoe104
07/9/2023 10:13 | Just catching up with news this morning and really disappointed here. Only recently bought a holding with a view to holding very long-term. I wont hold shares in the new bigger company especially given a US quotation. Just thinking what to do with my shares and probably will flip them over into DS Smith.. Edit - i do think this is a stupid move. There was no reason as to why Smurfit could not become a giant on its own. It was perfectly capable.. | cfro
07/9/2023 09:07 | Smurfit Kappa eyes Irish market exit amid $20bn merger talks | igoe104
13/8/2023 14:43 | Interesting article in the shares Magazine about packaging companies are positioned themselves for the shift away from plastic. SKG and the other two listed companies were mentioned. Shares Magazine is free to AJ Bell customers... | igoe104
11/8/2023 16:59 | SKG does tend to be whacked on risk off markets, if we are heading for some volatility it's near the top of my buy list - or a great longer term hold regardless. | essentialinvestor
11/8/2023 16:54 | Tony smurfit interview. On CNN | igoe104
08/8/2023 12:56 | It's a secular mega trend for sure. And now there are some doubts about how environmentally friendly recycled plastic packaging really is - with one recent investigation showing damaging discharge of plastic particles in to a local river system in the UK (located near a large plastic recycling plant). At one point Jefferson Smurfit, as was, comprised nearly 25% of the entire capitalisation of the Dublin stock market. | essentialinvestor
08/8/2023 12:30 | Yeah, I think Mark has covered SKG well. Lots of future tail winds more and more folks buying stuff online and the deterioration of plastic packing are going to be big tail winds for SKG. Contrary to what certain people say the future is online and town centre shops will decline More and more over the coming years. | igoe104
08/8/2023 11:59 | HL automatically convert Euros. ii do not (you have to go in and do it yourself, which is a bit clunky, tbh). | thamestrader
08/8/2023 11:50 | Just listened to Mark's podcast and very good it is too. Been interested in gaining exposure to this sector for a long time. Currently have no investments. DS Smith is another world-class player paying a higher dividend. Just a couple of questions to anyone here kind enough to answer them: Is there an Irish withholding tax on the dividends? If so how much and can you (or broker) reclaim it if UK resident? Is the dividend paid in Euro's and if so is it automatically converted to Sterling by your broker (HL, ii AJBell etc) ? | cfro
06/8/2023 20:41 | Excellent podcast about SKG. From long-term investor mark atkinson, his podcasts are definitely worth subscribing to. | igoe104

03/8/2023 08:00 | In terms of results and given much of European macro is at stall speed, they read very well. Europe is by far their largest business area. | essentialinvestor
03/8/2023 07:37 | You should not have paid it in the first place, so have a word with your platform provider to make sure they are paid gross wolfhh.Getting it back can be done on a short form tax return. | our haven
02/8/2023 18:05 | Hi guys I hold a few hundreds skg shares for some time now in my isa account. Just realised the dividends had been token away by 25% as tax, does anybody able to advise how to reclaim that money back please? Thanks | wolfhh
