You would imagine global governments are steady reducing plastic packaging and replacing it with paper/ Card board. Future certainly bright for SKG..

I got mine (Halifax). But very annoying about 30% less paid. Guess tax issue but this is in my stock isa account. Does British citizen have to pay this? Contacted with Halifax, they told they did not do anything . Contacted with skg, no reply. Any idea how to deal this please?

Was today meant to be divi payment day? I haven't seen mine yet. (HL)

EDIT>> yes!
It is proposed to pay the interim dividend announced on 02 August 2023 of 33.5 cent per share on 27 October 2023 (Record Date: 29 September 2023).

Pre deal I thought SKG at £33 was overbought (at least short term) and at £26,
a few weeks earlier, oversold (unless we are heading for a wider macro cliff).

Bought back what I sold last week.

Could be nearly 9 months to deal completion, so it's a bit messy in the meantime.

WestRock carries a significantly higher net debt burden than SKG,
so gearing for the newly merged business (on deal completion) also increases significantly v SKG.
Equity markets may also be attempting to factor this in.

Worth watching for a buying opportunity. SKG is given to fat % moves in either direction,
as we know.

SKG is no. 8 in the worlds top ten packing companies with WestRock sitting at no. 2. This merger will create the largest, over-taking International paper at no. 1 spot (if competition rules allow it to go ahead).

Im sure SKG could have made it up the list on its own accord without a leg-up.

The main issue for me is whether Mr Smurfit will remain in charge and continue to call all the shots. If not there is no way i would invest, however, if he does then it might be a different story.

I had trouble sleeping last night with the heat and seeing this news
did not help as SKG is a relatively large holding for me.

TS is an exceptional CEO with a proven track record of value creation and one who knows this sector inside and out (family history) however integration on this scale raises the risk profile.
SKG have excelled at regular small bolt on buys.

Sold a few.

Yeah, I think Mark has covered SKG well. Lots of future tail winds more and more folks buying stuff online and the deterioration of plastic packing are going to be big tail winds for SKG.

Contrary to what certain people say the future is online and town centre shops will decline More and more over the coming years.

Just listened to Mark's podcast and very good it is too.

Been interested in gaining exposure to this sector for a long time. Currently have no investments. DS Smith is another world-class player paying a higher dividend.

Just a couple of questions to anyone here kind enough to answer them: Is there an Irish withholding tax on the dividends? If so how much and can you (or broker) reclaim it if UK resident?

Is the dividend paid in Euro's and if so is it automatically converted to Sterling by your broker (HL, ii AJBell etc) ?
