SKG fundamentals have improved since IP's initial approach: 1) Strong Q1, with positive outlook on box prices for 2018. 2) Reparenco deal, cheap+strategic. 3) Peers have rallied 15-25%. We model FY18E EBITDA 1494mn (+6% vs. cons). Value at7.3x 2018 EV/EBITDA vs. peers at 9.0x. Growth = re-rating potential.

The fundamentals of the European packaging sector are in
excellent shape. Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG) is the leading player
in this market and therefore the most exposed to the positive
dynamics. This, combined with the deep intrinsic value of its
assets, points to significant hidden value and upside in the share
price. We are increasing our price target to 4200c, 26% above
current levels. It is little wonder therefore that SKG’s Board
rejected the proposal from International Paper.

Though Numis have also raised since the bid, target to 3300p (from 2800p)on the back of the Dutch acquisition......

Still, thought the 'hot' money leaving would have seen a whack knocked off regardless of Davy et al..........was set up to add to my position plus take a trading pot early doors.....zzzzzz.......can't have it both ways :)

Davy broker note out with a 42 euro target - though it could be a bit of managed PR to keep the price from dropping..

......to some extent bad news priced in, without the bid and following the mkt/sector/recent deal, SKG would have been around £28+ .......but under no illusions that it'll take a tumble.....personally I expect a fairly rapid return to these levels over the next month or two.....
