That's right,if institutions agreed to "being taken over the wall",as they call it,about a possible deal, then they wouldn't be able to deal.Being in possession of insider information is not per se illegal of course,it's only when insider info is used for profit.Yet,who knows.More probable that the erratic bond market,Grexit fears and the Summer blues are having managers sit on their hands while light selling depresses the price.

Noted here too - would SPH consult their larger shareholders if they wanted to recommend an offer - to gauge support - would this then by default restrict them from selling/purchasing stock - with larger cap. cos. you see RNSs stating that they have received an offer blah blah and they have the support of xx% of the major shareholders - only a thought...........

The ANITE takeover this am. for eg. Keysight has only secured irrevocable undertakings to support the offer from 15.2% of Anite shareholders -again only a thought........

Time will tell bigman. In general shorting a share which has the potential for a bid is simply a gamble. If a bid comes in materially higher than current price you are dead. Downside for this is probably limited, underpinned by US approval of Silhouette and sales growing across most products. Risks still with debt and currency challenges, however. The amount of time it has taken since the business review was announced makes me think we may get a more complex outcome than a simple sale of the whole business, but who knows.
On balance I am more comfortable with being long than I would be with being short at 39.

Still think that the downside on this share price is far greater than any up side

Few willing to pay slight premium this am. Extended settlement?

Large 1/2 m+ trade yesterday at premium too.

My hunch is that just before the well overdue announcement the share price will drop to about 35p so that the M&M's can load up.
I did say 'my hunch'!

PS. SJC - Can you please make comment on all that, or are you making a submission to the Tate Modern ;-)

That was pure optimistic guesswork on my behalf. You could well be correct. But now that they have got the all important enhancement (excuse the pun) on silhouette they must be on the way to doing some deal. Surely!

the fall over the last couple of days is interesting. a 10% fall based on very low volume, as you say soundbuy any shares are being mopped up by institutions. I suspect PIs may start to get bored waiting for news. Surely something has to give soon

Well, not the likes of Tosca, Soros etc as holding over 3% they'd have to inform the mkt, Invesco is now sub 3% after offloading to Fidelity some time back so no duty to inform mkt - a few bored PIs too by the look of it.......

Well, with some notable heavyweights on board each with significant holdings a favourable announcement should come out soon or Chris Spooner will get a severe kicking where it hurts!
