14/5/2018 12:17 | I bought more SIA last Friday and more SHP this morning - double win ;-) | nigelpm
14/5/2018 12:13 | Thought about adding another chunk this morning but bought (SIA) instead, no debt and a nice write up in the FT swung it for me.dyor as usual! | ny boy
14/5/2018 11:11 | And buying on weakness or inconsistencies like this morning. | nigelpm
14/5/2018 11:00 | Probably a stronger rise when US markets open, just a question of holding and waiting for higher levels. | ny boy
14/5/2018 09:26 | That would be disappointing as the vote is unlikely before Nov/Dec I understand. | redtom1
14/5/2018 09:26 | I agree that the gap is too wide, and either Takeda will pull this off or another still has time to come in. Rightly on wrongly, this morning I sold half my SIPP RDSB and tripled my position in SHP at £ 40.63. Looking for a 10% rise from here to where the gap before completion should be imho. Also slightly surprised at the rise in Takeda not reflecting more in SHP Perhaps there's a whiff of another bidder for SHP which will let them off the hook? | pete160
14/5/2018 09:23 | A firm timetable will only be available after shareholders vote. | mbmiah
14/5/2018 08:59 | Yes, Takeda reported Q1 results today and they seemed positive. The markets liked them. Hopefully Weber can sell Shire to their shareholders too. If they buy into this the Takeda share price could go above 5000 Yen. Thought SHP might have risen higher today based on US on Friday evening and Takeda overnight. Shire would need to increase by 21.24% to match the current value of offer. Too big a gap in my opinion. Would be useful to have a firm timetable rather than 'completes in H1 2019'. | redtom1
14/5/2018 08:31 | Takeda up strongly today | romeike
14/5/2018 08:24 | Based on closing Takeda share price and the current exchange rates, the offer is worth 4951p, the first time it has exceeded the original 4901p. This is made up of cash of 2238p and Takeda stock of 2713p. Compared to the original value, this has fallen 71p due to Takeda share price being lower but increased 121p due to positive exchange variances. | redtom1
14/5/2018 08:12 | Purchased more at £40.80 - expecting a bigger move up today. | nigelpm
14/5/2018 07:06 | Takeda stock price up 3% after issuing strong results. Good day for Shire I hope | tjb23
13/5/2018 22:56 | Phil, yes can't help but feel Takeda's stock price will rally as investors begin to understand (as per the link you posted). Offer price will rise accordingly, and hopefully push up Shire's share price in the short term. | ruethewhirl
13/5/2018 16:38 | I still don't get why these so called valuations by these so called brokers are way below the price someone is willing to pay. | mbmiah

12/5/2018 15:05 | Give some to your family? | toffeeman
12/5/2018 14:49 | Oh to have your 20/20 hindsight Toffeeman :-) My ISA is full of good income producing shares (RDSB, IMB, DLG, etc) so as to reduce getting clobbered for income tax. CGT I can generally manage but I guess my point was that we are hopefully going to see a lot of M&A activity this year now that a)the world has cash and can still borrow at historically low interest rates, b)has woken up to the fact that uk shares are (relatively) dirt cheap and c) after brexit the uk, the eu and the world will continue to run in some form or other. | pete160
12/5/2018 14:26 | Should've put the ZPG in an ISA? | toffeeman
12/5/2018 14:02 | Thank you Philanderer An interesting read although admittedly a lot of it went above my head. Takeda feel that the timefame for completion may take shorter than 12 months (possibly 9) but they have said 12 months for a margin of safety. They have also reiterated that they wish to retain their dividend policy and their investment /debt grade which from my reading they intend to do by quickly selling off significant chunks of assets. Of course, it might be a case of 'they would say that wouldn't they' but it should provide some reassurance for wavering shareholders in both firms and hopefully therefore a move up in the next few weeks as the CEO does the rounds, sellers dry up and presumably the hedgefunds and arbitragers move in (even if only for a 10% uplift)? A concern for me is if the long awaited stockmarket correction were to arrive, would Takeda still be able to continue and would they find willing buyers at premium prices for the assets they want rid of ? All that said, I would buy more if I could but can't identify anything to sell to raise cash to do so. I'm also in the fortunate position that the ZPG all cash takeover will likely complete very quickly and swallow my entire CGT allowance for this year (therefore I miss out twice by cutting the potential gain on SHP now and paying 20% CGT to boot). | pete160
