Hi CFC.

Yes the quality can be a big issue. A premium is currently paid for the heavier crudes.

Most refineries are geared up for just the light stuff. Could be an increasing problem going forwards.

Good for conventional oilers, bad for frackers.

Agree Fardels,

Debt is an issue, if oil turns could struggle. I dont hold ords. But hold the toggle note debt.

Will do well if oil stays up. And they cut debt. I thought someone here had mentioned them in the past.

GG I have noticed recently US fracking looks to be slowing, rig count is down again. Interesting you mention quality as I note several Asian refinery's have recently turned away "infected" light crude shipments from the US Eagle Ford as the quality has been poor due to contamination in the US pipeline infrastructure.

Yes, very true about being a gd time to pick up further assets.

Hopefully SQZ running the slide rule over something as we speak.

Gas price is a tricky one. As Almsivi says, sometimes higher oil means higher gas. Although the 2 dont always rise and fall in tandem.

Dr Anas Alhajji is a great follow on twitter. He is an advocate of 'crude quality matters'. His thesis is the oversupply of lighter grades from US fracking will end up having a big effect. While this is over supplied the refiners are crying out for the heavier grades. Leading to a big disconnect in the various Oil prices.

Read into it what you will, just thought I'd share.

Cheers GG

Reply to Nigel re his last post comments.

The difference between your comments and GG's are his were based on facts not hyperbole and he has been very clear as to his trading position buddy (something which you never "talked" about).
This is why you were given lower free bb "respect" than GG on this bb, if you were wondering.

Oil price will start to weigh on the price of gas if it stays high over the next few trading sessions, for a few reasons. (Sorry if this is old news to some)Fields with high gas content can start to liquefy and "spike" into their oil export lines, effectively getting paid more for selling the gas as "oil" - the second being that many chemical feedstocks found in oil can also be found in natural gas - expensive oil makes for expensive chemical feedstock so switching to gas feedstocks reduces the bottom line of these products. This does of course result in more demand for gas. There's an inextricable link between oil and gas prices that can't be ignored - i.e high oil will invariably mean higher gas.

One point re the hedging. We are all assuming that all the hedges in place are at a 35 per therm floor. Personally I would not be surprised if some of the hedges are for considerably more , because the price was a lot higher last year. So we may all be in for a pleasant surprise

My exit is in three years time and any gas price weakness in the meantime bodes well for picking up distressed assets on the cheap.

One cold winter and gas spot will be back on its highs.

And oil is up.

Bit of luck Almsivi might give us a heads up on condy prices. He's been a tad quiet of late. Maybe it takes him longer these days to count his money.

GG I think quiet a few here are holding from sub 20p and see this as a superb long term hold which certainly offers a different perspective had they purchased at current prices.

Sp seems pretty resilient to me anyhow at the moment and is only around 17% off its all time high.

Your chicken licken the gas price is falling routine is getting a tad boring now the over supply to the market is well known and will eventually balance itself.

Tick Tock

ps interesting thing on TXP this morn they look to have announced refinancing on the TSX but the LSE rns is yet to come out, some early birds snagging a few.

Well all i can do is return the compliment FB.

However, I would suggest you look closer to home if you think a huge reduction on spot price eont have an effect on the bottom line.

Gas now 33p and still trending down.

Gd luck GG

GG makes a strong argument - belittling him and his views (in a similar way to how people treated me) is nuts - you need to wake up.
