An understandable market correction - which was overdue after the massive recent run-up.

Has anything fundamentally changed?

I know what I think.

Thank You Mr. Market.

Then,of course, there’s sentiment (influencing the premium/discount)clearly not just about NAV.Lot of profit taking in US Tech.US banks have been a notable outperformer as a cyclical play in the last month.I find todays fall somewhat overplayed especially given the couple of per cent appreciation in the $ against £ in the last day. There’s a backcloth of concern that the Democrats won’t manage the economy as effectively as the Republicans.Their hearts might rule their brains with a real fear that inflation might be restoked as rising long end bond yields testify.Personally,i would rather be in a selection of Baillie Gifford tech selections long term than put my faith in a billy the bounce for hard hit cyclicals but thats a personal choice.SMT look oversold to me but I’m not sure if thats on a days view or a years view :)

but that NAV is in effect 2 days out of date as does not include thursday's movement in nasdaq and also nasdaq futures overnight and today !
al147fish- who knows the answer to that but just keep checking chart for nasdaq 100 and wait for it to stop short term downtrend and looking like it is changing direction. SMT will mirror what happens to the index to a large extent. good luck .
now at a level where a day trade is good from risk/reward viewpoint and especially if nasdaq futures does not suddenly plunge again .

nasdaq futures recovering and SMT looks a bit oversold and good opp for a day trade when it starts to look like it is turning . But needs close monitoring as nasdaq futures might suddenly selloff again - volatile times !

some trade today and wish I had got in closer to the bottom but made a bit ! ( wry smile ) . closed my CFD trade at 1225 because nasdaq index starting to retreat after the rally but it might change later in day .

Probably a bit early in terms of sentiment to buy.Would like to get this week out the way.Commentators/press have been touting a correction referencing to the rise in yields at the long end of the bond market. The increase in margin requirements imposed by broking intermediaries (probably encouraged by financial authorities)signals a tightening of liquidity that could see the 'free cash for all ' bubble deflate somewhat. The Robin Hood gang suggested that something needed to be done to dampen down rampant speculation. Not that this should impact SMT per se but there's the tsunami effect.

Article in Telegraph today. A number of IFA's are advising clients to buy smt give the 5% discount to nav, pointing out that it is a rare opportunity, paticularly since normally when it happens the managers buy stock to close the gap.
