24/2/2021 09:07 | SMT is now in negative territory for 2021.I'm surprised the trust has taken quite such a pounding. The rapid increase in the discount to NAV suggests that there's not just a deterioration in investor sentiment.I suspect that there's collateral damage resulting from the increase in margin requirements for a large swathe of stocks held with IG Index and others.Yesterday, the | steeplejack
24/2/2021 08:23 | Tesla in after hours trading has reversed yesterday's losses which will only further strengthen the NAV here! | n0rbie
24/2/2021 08:22 | got that wrong so far as negative mood in market pulls it down ! | arja
24/2/2021 07:47 | GRAB IT. BIG BUYING OPPORTUNITY. MASSIVE MARKET OVER-REACTION TO WHAT IS A MINISCULE INCREASE IN HK STAMP DUTY INCREASE FROM 0.10% to 0.13%. IN PERSPECTIVE - FOR A HK$ TRADE EQUIVALENT IN SIZE TO £100,000 OLD STAMP DUTY £100. NEW STAMP DUTY £130. HARDLY EARTH-SHATTERING. HARDLY MEANINGFUL FOR THE COST OF A TRADE. REACTION VASTLY OUT OF PROPORTION TO TODAY'S SELL-OFF THANK YOU MR. MARKET! ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
23/2/2021 20:18 | US indices including nasdaq doing well this evening and should see a further bounce in SMT, ATT etc tomorrow IF no selloff in last hour ! | arja
23/2/2021 19:04 | interesting that 1120 was chart support level and it respected that and then what a bounce. nasdaq index only slightly less than at UK close at the moment ! | arja
23/2/2021 13:55 | So approx 7% discount to nav. | gargleblaster
23/2/2021 13:52 | SP hit the 1122 low at 12:15 and appears to have bounced. Went way lower than warrants any logical sense, to me anyway. | bdog51
23/2/2021 13:37 | Been watching the shenanigans around NAV announcement. Picked up a few at £11.38 and again moments later at £11.78. Be rude not to despite everything. | steve3sandal
23/2/2021 13:00 | So in a week NAV has dropped just over 6% while share price down 20% (half of which this morning). maybe tech sell off has some way to go but at this rate SMT will be a bargain sooner or later. With TSLA now in a bear market maybe SMT will be buying back in again at a 50% discount(already half way there) to what they sold for just a matter of days ago. That would be a laugh, but I hope they dont. | muscletrade
23/2/2021 12:55 | Is that the bottom (for now)? | thamestrader
23/2/2021 12:50 | NAV 12.76. Added here, seems ridiculous. | n0rbie
23/2/2021 12:26 | Certainly the NAV is a moving target and the share price is busy trying to pre anticipate what the NAV will be when the dust settles. Having said that the Tesla share of the NAV had already been reduced to approx 4% before the drop. Even if TSLA went to zero then the NAV would only go down by 4%. So far TSLA effect including todays pre market prices , a drop of almost 25% from top would mean a drop to NAV of just 1%. Even if NIO echo TSLA exactly then that would mean another drop of approx 1% of NAV. Meanwhile SMT right now is down by 20% from recent high. Other members of SMT top ten holdings will also be impacting of course but none of them will be matching TSLA (and NIO) Will be interesting to see update to NAV . | muscletrade
23/2/2021 12:26 | If a company makes more money from Bitcoin speculation than its principal business, investors are rightly skeptical of its revenue generating prospects. Referring to Tesla holdings only here of course. Crabs | scrabster1
23/2/2021 12:21 | Wow this is really shocking -11%. Anyone have any explanation for why the fall so dramatic? I understand the fall in Tesla/Nio. Sterling? - Has been rising well before this plunge took effect? | gargleblaster
23/2/2021 11:13 | the market has a good idea what the NAV will say but that is historic anyway and does not include selloff in nasdaq today . The share price is taking into account of NAV to be announced on wednesday rogerbridge . Need to see nasdaq reversing this short term downtrend before re-entering or buying / | arja
23/2/2021 11:08 | Strength of the pound? Profit taking? Panic? | peterbill
23/2/2021 10:51 | It's now 15% lower than this time last week. Seems to have dropped far more than other similar ITs for some reason. | bdog51
23/2/2021 10:47 | I've just bought some more, seems oversold now and certainly at a discount to NAV. | bdog51
23/2/2021 10:40 | Looks like a buying opportunity, lets see what happens when the NAV is announced. | rogerbridge
23/2/2021 10:01 | Think they still have over 10% in electric vehicles with nio and Tesla, both move together and still very significant weighting. Heavy profit taking , a Monks is safer and more diversified but returns have been lower to date. | its the oxman
23/2/2021 09:44 | If they've sold half their Tesla holding, why is it tracking the Tesla price so much? (down 4% pre-market). This is surely now trading at a discount to NAV? Yesterday's NAV 1331p, current share price 1213p. I'll be interested to see the NAV update today. | n0rbie
23/2/2021 09:15 | I am bit surprised at the size of today's drop as nasdaq only off about 1.5% since the level at UK close on monday .Who knows if more to go and a BHR policy might be wise at this point . | arja
23/2/2021 07:49 | lower bond prices fearing higher inflation and interest rates in USA in time but might be years away . | arja
23/2/2021 07:48 | bond price | arja |
