Surely risk determines everything in investment...
Risk is the motivator for new investment, whether to hold and whether to diversify.
Why do we diversify?
To minimise risk.
The basis of investment in SCLP in the first instance was the route that was being taken with Immunobody which was an attractive investment proposition given the early indications and the relatively short timeline from initial phase 1 through to the end of Phase 2 where a sucessful trial was due to have the company sold.
A straightforward strategy and an attractive one for investors but in 2012 a VERY high risk.
Then MODITOPE arrived.
An unexpected risk in the original business plan for SCLP was then revealed.... That being the complication of the company's business plan where a sale of the Immunobody was unlikely to take place.
Thus the original investors in Scancell in 2011/12 suddenly found themselves in a whole new ball game.
For anyone expecting to be "out" (one way or the other by 2013) they weren't going to be.
Suddenly a short term "fast Buck" changed... Dramatically
So don't mock risk, I suspect the inability of some investors to deal with the change in the company's profile and business plan has been the real reason that so many are sitting on losses looking forward to the day when they can exit at a profit.
Please don't let anyone tell you that SCLP has progressed in the way they expected in 2011/12.
The premise of most investors (LTH) here was to get in/ get out within two years.
Those who didn't have been here for nearly seven years now, many of whom are nursing losses and hoping that the share price recovers sufficiently to give them their money back. Others are happy that (eventually) the Market will "wake up" to Scancell. I sincerely hope it does, but that's a different story. You mentioned risk, I'll say to you that Risk Management is one of the greatest skills required in Equity Investment.
Let's not lose sight of the fact that most LTHs here expected to be out taking profits within two years of their original investment. They haven't.

To suggest a share carries zero risk adds little value. By the same token, to suggest a share carries risk but with nil attempt to probability weight the risks or the valuation outcomes similarly adds little value. The more interesting observation is not what each camp are saying - but how many posters are sitting in each camp. It is unusual for a funded biotech with an 18 month cash runway and a path into the clinic across multiple candidates to have an entire board obsessing about risk. Or for a more positive board concentrating on the opportunities to be constantly at war with itself. In the meantime, liquidity is created and I keep buying. So for that - I thank both parties :)

If you ever, or anyone else for that matter get him to admit calling it wrong I will faint.He would never believe he was wrong or admit it. You know that by now, I am sure. Lol.

Best wishes and good luck.

Bless them.
The proverbial Lemmings.

Even after 7 years of misdirection and scams, they still believe the liar, it really does beggar belief.
Anyway, im comfortable with what i have, and will now just ride this through to the end point, whatever that may be.
Im honestly wasn't boasting when i informed him that i now had a relatively large free carry, i just needed to prove to the idiot that he had called it all wrong, right from the outset, so please dont think bad of me, i just really wanted to rub the arrogant cretins nose in it.

Here's hoping that we get the CRUK award. I might buy and sell a few more if we do.

regards and respect.

There's a saying in the city.... " screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me ", i have a feeling that it may be appropriate with a few poor souls over there.

They tolerate him because he sells them a dream. There are always many buyers of that.

TF posted today on lse about being sure on a share and losing it all before. Bet he listened to his m8 and bought the dream. Hopefully he won’t lose it all again, but he might.

I couldn't agree more.
The buffoon who keeps banging on about its how many you hold clearly has no idea about investing.
It's not about how many you hold, its about what you paid for them ! Its very simple economics.
Someone could hold a fraction of what he does, but if they cost them zip, and they make the same amount of money as he does, who's the idiot ?
He has had capital tied up for years, wasting away, meanwhile anyone with the slightest intelligence has traded themselves into a position that they have got their initial investment back, and have reinvested it elsewhere.

I don't understand how such an uneducated cretin is tolerated over there, he certainly isn't over here.
Still HT publicly rips him a new one every time he misbehaves, and that's just poetry in motion.

I totally agree with everything in your post.

My experience with aim and the senior markets and Foreign markets as well these days, is that the science or ip only tends to go a little way these days. Certainly not as far or as long as they used to carry. Quick spike, then drift down again.For a lasting and sustainable share price rise there has to be income coming in. That is why I feel there is still a way to go here yet.

Nothing worse than the same sneaks keep reporting posters deliberately and in tandem, just because they are not ramping the share every single day. That is why they are failed investors. Because they do not and cannot listen to reason or any voice except their own desperate voice.

Best wishes. AIMHO.

As far as I'm concerned LSE must either be frightened of losing "Premier Members" or whatever they're called, but from my point of view it's so pleasant to be able to post without some idiot coming along and making out that "being negative" (ie not saying that everything in the garden's rosy) means that you must be imbecilic.
Well, being negative as it's been put has served me well over the last five plus years and I have a stake in Scancell that lets me decide whether to stay put or sell up without any financial pain.
This isn't crowing it's a statement of fact, and still for the life of me I don't understand why anyone would invest in a company without accepting that something might not be quite as it seems if the share price follows precisely the opposite path to the one that that investor predicted... however good the outlook. I'm not suggesting that anyone should sell out, I'm simply saying that at least admit that the Market's reaction to awhat appears to be a stonking winner doesn't think the same. But further, to actively try and ridicule others who have had the sense to follow their instincts and make money when the policy of the self rightous few has been to bang on and on about holding vast numbers of shares when it's obvious that the "averaging" has not helped, save to give others an exit, seemsto me to be completely daft.
At least admit their strategy's wrong (at least in terms of others' investment interim sucess) but no, they keep banging on about the future completely ignoring the past.
Well, I hold shares to benefit should the future come right, , so why do some feel the need to say how much cleverer they are when the hold a capital loss?
Baffles me, I'm no Scientist, but sadly that's not what shares are about....
Once everyone knows how good the science is the cat's out the bag and the market takes over.
Oh well, as I say it's nice to be in an antiseptic environment where it's possible to discuss and consider the position rather than have clever (loss holders) telling me that I'm and idiot (and getting my posts removed)... LOL
Right back to work in the garden now....dammit! Hehe
Good to chat...

Afternoon Loz - Agema - ONW - Dr and all,
likewise, i have been watching the pathetic antics of Ineptico and C7 etc over on the other place, and concur that these individuals have pretty much brought that BB to its knees.
Ineptico's inability to grasp the most basic of the English language never ceases to amaze me, the guy it a total buffoon, and shows himself up whenever he appears.

I truly believe that if he is a very sick individual.

Good to have everyone on here though, at least we can discuss matters in an adult environment.

Not posted much recently as i have been traveling, but intend to try to remedy that.

Of course it could (but I think we have a strong case for success)!
However,if people think about it, due to complete overhype elsewhere it's now become a dead cert to many (some?) and as a result should the unthinkable happen and SCLP don't get the cash award have these overhypers thought what the likelihood share price wise would be?
Probably not simply because they're in some cases unable to see the wood for the trees.
Sclp needs good news which hopefully we'll get, but the history of some is that future events are completely overegged and when something different from the expectation hits share price disappointment is likley to occur.
So the question is, "is the Grand Challenge award priced in?". Well, in the market probably not, but in the rarified atmosphere of the MFFF it is.
The more important question is how many will see any boost from a successful Grand Challenge announcement as a means to recoup/unfreeze capital invested? I hope not many but for all the background (good) expectations we need to see some positive announcements which will kickstart the commercials here. A successful Grand Challenge award announcement with a worthwhile Commercial announcement behind would set up a very interesting share price situation. Hopefully that will be the case...
Bit more of a wait then....

Agree totally LOZ
Far too much nastiness on MFFF and is such an unpleasant place that Zi have decided to stay here.
You see what happens when balanced folk like ONW goes on there and makes good points.They jump and get posts reported
Latest is Tarquius Eat Up having go at New poster who received 7 recommends wishing for more balanced posting.
He says you picked on baBABA last time well he deserves a good HOT WIznzg roasting which he has got lately.
The pressure on them all being underwater is getting too much they are even more Nasty and Spiteful and desperate.
If you have no other money then this investment has to pay off fir them so likes of PKUM All in and Tarquinius Thai Pensioner and GoFy123 Walter Mitty Millionaure and poor Elsie are all suffering whilst ASTuties like you are self sufficient and not dependent on this doing well only as. Trading oppportunity to Trouser some well earned crust fir a treat fir you and the Mrs or fir freebies fir Tosh or a great for the little ones for me or a bit of jam for Loggie on top of his big piece of cake.
His different can 2 sets if investors be.A happy paradise here and a to i. Jungle on other place.
Best advice PKUM is give Loggie the £100 and you might learn something about thus investing game and yes stuff the science.
Is his much you have lost probably about £50k worth it just so that yoyrEGO can be massaged s bit by the camp followers science anaraoks and sherbet lemon suckers

Looking ahead... decision time ???
There CAN be no doubt, as to the 'unpleasantness' of late.
'Unpleasantness' due to 'frustration', as 'matters' FAIL to reach trHYPED-UP expectations ???
Taking Elsie as an example {there are many in similar situations, for sure}
A lingering position of being 'underwater' taking it's toll on 'finances AND morale'
Needing a circa 65% rise in S P...just to reach 'break-even'
So, What lies ahead ??? { in the next 3 months}
The CRUK award cash...Then what ??? A long awaited RISE in S P perhaps ???
For Wiser, more ASTUTE, better placed investors will, no doubt, see this as an opportunity to Make 'n' Take PROFITS
{ Buy-in on rumour... SELL on news} = IF all goes well {IN/OUT profit trousered}
However
NOT the case for those 'underwater punters'
Do they =
A = CUT and RUN { having had enough of the 'unpleasantness experience' which won't end}
B = HOLD { for the 'promised' riches}
C = BUY,BUY,BUY
D = Other {depending on folks circs at the time}???
.
For some, a decision time - needing MUCH thought
For others, an opportunity {as ALWAYS = RISK}
Then, there is the question of TIMING
.
Interesting times ahead.....BUT = 'unpleasantness' Who NEEDS it ??? folks are already voting with their feet

Lazy in Hull but sun expected later.
New KFC opened on my route today so looking forward to Testing it out. Ya have opening offers like free HOt chicken WINGS if you buy PLUM ketchup.
Not much joy on MFFF with everyone falling out and baNANA acting as Village Policeman guffaw.
Village Idiott more like thoughhe is well know by local devCON bobbies.In fact PLUM probably knows more about the local Nick than the RunCOrN rozzer ha ha
Is Tarquinius Eat Uo fond of the Falling Diwn water that C7 has sAid.
The new poster complains of the LSE board being like a kindergarten and mentions the main folk
Apart from Der Lrader the chief CONman and trouble maker and responsible for 99% of the You LD onnthere or is it another EGO creation like Ray p,and GooFy123 that only e it’s in baNANAs mind
Have a great day all
