That’s a good start to the year then hopefully Saga can get back to what it is capable of earning then around £200 million per year in profits ,of course it will take a few years but certainly worth holding on to for the long term.

First move to retest 350p, then a small pull back, then a break of 350p, leading to clear skies to 500 by Q2/Q3, stay long, stay patient, ignore silly short term noise, panic and imaginary short positions 🤣

Cleverinvestor.....why do you waste your time on here when you are not even invested? You are a pest of the first degree and most of the time you are now talking to yourself as most sensible folk have blocked you.

Saga cruise stance praised on BBC1 just now

On the program called Rip-Off Britain - don't worry about the title, it was all good:

Angela Rippon, whilst holding to camera a newspaper page with two colour pictures, one of "Dazzling Danube: A Saga river ship in Austria's Wachau Valley", the other of "Drop anchor: A Saga ship in Malta":

"All of the papers are reporting that cruises could be sailing once again for those that have been vaccinated. 'Cruises back ... if you've had a jab' says The Mail and it follows cruise operator Saga's announcement that it plans to resume its river cruises in May and its ocean cruises in June.

Now the government is still advertising against cruising but Saga meanwhile says that there will be a blanket 'No to boarding' if you haven't had both injections. I think that's going to be good news for people."

Depends if you think about the short term, medium term or long term. Short term huge variation, medium term less and long term even less.If there is another variant which isn't cured with the current vaccine then it will make the medium term more unpredictable but you could argue that in the long term it is fairly known. Options are either we eventually can cure all variants and it comes good which I would put a fairly high level of certainty on, or we don't and it destroys the world, with the second option the value of my Saga shares won't be my main concern.

You've finally got something right notsocleverinvester. Saga will come good. It's a strong buy on a mid to longer term view. Not worried about short term fluctuations. Can't wait to see an update on the insurance side. Only way is up over next 3 years.

Cleverinvestor.....why do you not just toddle back to your beloved CNA and count your 0.5% profit there. Anyone in the know realises that SAGA are going to produce some cracking figures for the insurance arm of the business. As for travel like everywhere else things on hold till early Summer at the soonest but that is all priced in for now.

A lot of travel stocks seem cheap at moment, well probably except for Ryanair maybe! So tempting to buy, and Saga a prime example.

Thing that bothers me is the "variants". We still don't even have any idea if the South African variant can get around the current vaccines. If it can, then all bets are off!

We're probably not back to square one, but there will be a lot of renewed fear and continued restrictions.

Even if SA variant is covered by the current vaccines, what may lay around the corner? Just so much uncertainty. And if some sudden small important facts were to break, particularly after market close it could be painful.

And that is what holds me back at the moment.

arab3, did you forget to pick some up at 288p yesterday?

350p, is just the first resistance level, most stocks have been long term holds since March.

Did you miss the rally?

"The health and safety of our customers has always been our number one priority at Saga, so we have taken the decision to require everyone travelling with us to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19," Saga said in a statement.

Meanwhile, there is no evidence as yet, as to the extent vaccines can contain spread.

However, Moody's highlighted that there are substantial risks that travel volumes will remain very low over Easter and that weakness may persist into the key summer period, notably if infection rates remain high or if testing regimes are not effectively implemented.

Moody's said it does not expect passenger air traffic to recover to 2019 levels until at least 2023, and hence the focus in 2021 is primarily on cash burn and liquidity. Moody's said it estimates that easyJet's current liquidity is sufficient to absorb current levels of cash burn into early 2022.

I would have thought this piece would be worthy of an RNS

Saga has deferred the start date for its entire holiday programme of hotel stays, escorted tours and cruises until 1 May, with the first sea cruise departing on 4 May, which the company said should be ample time for its customers to receive their jabs.
