18/9/2003 11:32 | Down today, but I am betting on the pullback being only temporary once the appeal announcement is made later today. Whatever the outcome, it should clear some uncertainty and show how it is only a storm in a teacup in the context of Ryanair´s stellar business performance. Easyjet is also quite firm today, which usually is a bullish sign for RYA. Could be wrong, but I remain long and it should be an interesting afternoon! | rvc
17/9/2003 13:14 | 17/09/2003 13:08:34 French court to rule on Ryanair appeal against decision on financial aid Thurs NANCY, France (AFX) - The Nancy Court of Appeal will make a decision tomorrow at 2.00 pm on Ryanair Holdings PLC's request for a suspension of the decision to prevent it from obtaining subsidies for its twice daily route between Strasbourg and London. The French court ruled July 27 that aid granted by the Strasbourg Chamber of Commerce to Ryanair was illegal. | chief squirrel
17/9/2003 11:20 | More MM buys today. | superdealer
10/9/2003 14:17 | Assuming that the prices reported are correct then 3 out of the 4 MM trades today were buys. | superdealer
10/9/2003 11:40 | Yes there often seem to be volatile movements intraday. Have noticed a frequent pattern in recent weeks of down in the morning and up in the afternoon (though yesterday was an exception to this), am hoping that happens again today. Am committed to staying long though on a relative value basis vs. BAY, so unless the whole airline sector collapses. I still have my BAY short open to offer protection so will stay long RYA until my target is reached, though you are right that the volatility is unnerving. | rvc
09/9/2003 22:57 | MMs were moving RYA up and down virtually every hour today. Very difficult to know which way it is going. I've closed my positions in RYA again as I've seen this move totally illogically too many times before. | superdealer
09/9/2003 13:21 | Unfortunately today RYA seems to be reacting to the backdraft of the negative comments by British Airways yesterday. Don´t see why since RYA and EZJ are likely to benefit if anything from BA´s misfortune. However am very nervous of the market being overbought at the moment, so will continue to hold both RYA long and BAY short for the moment. | rvc
08/9/2003 21:50 | rvc - looks like you called it right on both companies. Well done. | superdealer
08/9/2003 11:21 | I am also using spread bets with IG therefore Euros, although I follow the price in Pounds. Looks like the momentum is building on the long side, and am looking for it to break above 5 pounds in the short term to play catch-up with the strong performance of the airline sector. Am short of British Airways at around 2.05 as a hedge. Let´s see. | rvc
08/9/2003 08:52 | Looks like last week's blip is behind us for now. I'm currently trading RYA on spread bets. City Index use the London price whereas IG Index use the Euro price. | superdealer
29/8/2003 10:24 | Yes I am also amazed too at the lack of interest here! I have built up a core long position in RYA over the last couple of months, even though I am now generally looking to be short the overall market. It could be that the monthly traffic figures in early September will prove a catalyst...or it could be that they rise beforehand with the market, and other airline stocks being so firm...Hard to time it precisely, (especially with O Leary being so unpredictable in what he will say next!) so prefer just to hold my position for now. Good luck anyway... | rvc
28/8/2003 22:28 | Rvc, I'm glad to see there are 2 of us following this! I've traded RYA many times in the 400 to 440 range but this time I held for the bigger rise. As I said, I'm out at the moment but I will get back in as soon as possible once the current short-term uncertainty has passed. | superdealer
28/8/2003 16:46 | Hi superdealer. You seemed to lose faith very quickly within 6 days. It amazes me how quickly people raise doubts about the most financially strong and profitable airline in Europe, whilst remaining silent over most others like Lufthansa, KLM and BA that are effectively bankrupt. Not only is RYA a solid long-term investment (low PER, strong cashflow, high growth, big market share, massive cost advantage etc) but also a great short-term trade, since it has risen a measly percentage in the recent rally compared to the likes of BA which has doubled since March. RYA is one of the few companies where creating value for customers (cheap fares) is actually in line with creating shareholder value - they actually target year on year drops in average fare whilst growing profits. In my view once the immediate hoo-ha over subsidies has died down (they were only ever icing on the cake, and for every airport that they drop another 2 or 3 will come forward), the shares will have to play catch-up. I remain long since around 4.20, and will probably not look to take profits until 5.20 at least. | rvc
28/8/2003 09:06 | Hope some of you enjoyed the ride to profits. I am no longer a holder as there is too much uncertainty about the situation regarding subsidies allegedly being paid to Ryanair by airports eager to get their business. Currently the best way to make money from Ryanair is to take advantage of their special offers on fares by flying midweek. | superdealer
22/8/2003 11:50 | The MMs marked the price down early yesterday to try to get a few sellers. It didn't work and the price was up by the end of the day. Today we have another impressive rise. The charts predicted the upward rise as I mentioned in my previous post. Looks like 500 could be reached fairly swiftly. Pity there are not more people on here following it. | superdealer
19/8/2003 15:10 | From a technical viewpoint RYA has broken above a triangle formation giving a positive signal. Positive move this afternoon. Anybody out there? | superdealer
05/8/2003 09:05 | If you think Ryanair are bad, try Monarch Airlines! I was stuck in Gatwick airport for 8 hours! I've never been on a Ryanair flight that's been delayed more than 1/2 an hour. Groundstar aren't that good I admit. When the plane gets to the gate either nobody is there to open it. Or there's nobody to bring any steps to the aircraft. Quad | quadrophonia
04/7/2003 00:52 | M.T. Glass , if you're long I'd close. It's got further to fall. See Lex article from 30-6-03. | mickconn11
03/7/2003 17:51 | if managment has explained to the market that their strategy involved a gradual decrese in margin (albeit as a payoff for market share and eventual profitability at the expense of easyjet/incumbent nationals) why is it so dissapointed with the execution of the same? | spincity
03/7/2003 13:05 | plus the problem with increased payments to passengers for cancelled flights and over-booking | adriand
29/6/2003 13:01 | anyone knows the date and time of the june traffic figures to be released ? | albercik
23/6/2003 08:29 | looks like rya shareholders are flogging and moving into ezj... justice at last... ezj broken through technical levels on fri and also upgraded to buy at Merrill... dyor but this has some momentum buying now. | snaptastic
22/6/2003 14:53 | LONDON (AFX) - The US Center for Financial Research and Analysis (CFRA) has issued a report on Ryanair Holdings PLC's accounts, warning that the company faces a downturn in demand and declining free cashflow, the Sunday Times reported. The CFRA, which the newspaper described as one of the US' top independent analysts, also said that Ryanair overstated operating cashflow in its 2001-2 results, the paper added. lol | graham99114 |
