16/7/2008 21:54 | Oil indeed is the key to an equity relief rally! Lets hope it it keeps falling. I recently read a report that 70% of oil was being traded by speculators. Sounds like the Irish property bubble! Nobody knew exactly when it would burst but by golly when it bursts did it burst bigtime. | lbo
16/7/2008 21:14 | Got as high as 3175 about 8pm and then held the 3100 level approaching the close. Closing prices.. rya........292 ryaay.....3122 oil........134 and change. And thats after a four dollar drop at 3.30pm on oil news. Overall it looks like the markets want to rally after the recent selling. DOW up nearly 300 points at the close and the last few sessions all closes have been sold into. We could have a classic bear market rally in the making. Evening all. | mickconn11
16/7/2008 19:27 | cat100. Cheers for the link. You can't beat good old Micko to cause a little stir. Anyway up 11% on the Nasdaq as I write to 3130. If oil keeps on going down we're looking at 3200 pretty soon. | mickconn11
16/7/2008 16:56 | Well my Switch from Tullow worked out well . Sold Tullow at 9.05 and bought some more of these at 2.60 also bought easyjet at 2.58. Looks like the service is going to get much much better | cat100
15/7/2008 21:56 | Another rollercoaster today. When Ben Bernanke started speaking OIL dropped like a stone and an obvious beneficiary was RYA. Looks like the bulls will defend the 250 level with all the money they've got and they did well today. Brief dips below that level in the past week or so are naughty bear traps with more to do with the bids being pulled for an hour or so sucking in forced sellers or short sellers. Even more interesting is the Nasdaq price action which is now beginning to show an even more interesting inverse (or multiple inverse) Head and Shoulder pattern. It's been trying this before but now we have more data to throw in the mixer. Charts....like beauty... are in the eye of the beholder so any thoughts on that one folks ?. As usual with Ryanair and high oil consuming companies the OIL price is the boss at the moment. I can't help feeling that Mick and the boys will pull something special out of the bag. ...but what..? Interesting times. Good luck all. | mickconn11
12/7/2008 02:41 | Oil price is going up CAT and Ryanair going down, its very simple for the next few months anyway. Poor old Elan will have to lift the ISEQ all by itself I fear. | seangwhite

10/7/2008 21:35 | Nice up and down range this evening between 2700 and 2800. Premium the last few months getting to the point of being unsustainable but the bid and offer are there to be taken so that's cool. Any rise in London tomorrow (Friday) towards the mid 270s has to be sold into. Prices .. OIL.. 142 ..rya...265 .. ryaay ...2756 | mickconn11

08/7/2008 20:41 | Up 11% on the Nasdaq as I write. Who needs go- go- tech stocks to have some fun. Hank Paulson on Bloomberg TV just now with some reassuring words on the markets. OIL at 136 dollars (and declining ) so a possible test of 300 in London tomorrow. | mickconn11
08/7/2008 16:28 | Some serious short closing going on today. Oil down about $7 to the $135 area. | mickconn11
03/7/2008 11:05 | Looks Mr Carrol dumped his stake in Aer Lingus for a loss. I wonder was Ryanair the only willing buyer! | lbo
02/7/2008 22:14 | Ireland is wrong to put its miracle at risk After a week of what European leaders call reflection, another Irish referendum beckons, to be held early next year. Without it, there might well be an attempt to oust the Irish from the European Union The country naturally benefited from membership of the EU's internal market. Without it, Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, would not be able to offer its popular flights across Europe. So what would happen if Ireland were to leave the EU? As an associate member of the single European market, Ireland would probably attract less foreign investment than it does today. Dublin's financial centre would be demonised as an offshore tax haven and treated on par with Liechtenstein. We would see lots of Ryanair flights between Dublin and Cork and the EU would put even more pressure on Ireland to raise corporate taxes. | lbo |
