Do we all remember the scare over HIV, by the year 2000 one in three of us where supposed to infected.

Did it happen!

Its ok NHS England saying don't over react when the news papers want to over react so they can sell there stories.

I said to my partner the other day, do you contemplate not going to a place because when you get there someone there may have flu, she said no.
I said why should this be any different, its like a strong flu, I said are you of ill health she said no, so I rest my case.

one woman who husband on the TV to had caught it said it was like a mild case of the flu for him, Over reaction totally about this.

Iran's coronavirus outbreak is bizarrely reminiscent of the Black Death

Think this corona virus is now overplayed in the stock market, its wiped out over a years worth of gains in a week.

From The Gardian

Why is this worse than normal influenza, and how worried are the experts?
We don’t yet know how dangerous the new coronavirus is, and we won’t know until more data comes in. The mortality rate is around 2% in the epicentre of the outbreak, Hubei province, and less than that elsewhere. For comparison, seasonal flu typically has a mortality rate below 1% and is thought to cause about 400,000 deaths each year globally. Sars had a death rate of more than 10%

yes I think there could be a buying opportunity this next week - prices nearly down to 2008 levels and bank in a much stronger position.
As usual media blowing things out of proportion and scare mongering.

I'm not surprised to see all stocks getting hammered this virus is still out of control.

New British coronavirus victim 'stayed at Tenerife quarantine hotel': Derbyshire school shuts as parent tests positive after returning from holiday – while another Brit who went to Italy is diagnosed with the deadly infection

Part of China and Italy are like Ghost towns. This has to be hurting the economy. I'm avoiding as much contact as possible.

These had good results, beat forecasts on an underlying basis which is what matters, getting out of marginal businesses where they have no scale, so it is in a good position. Will go with the general trend, but Govt. holding a positive, acts as a back-stop.

normally the first time this breaks through the £2 boundary you get a bounce above it, not just a through the day bounce but an over night one so I'd expect this to raise its head again before going south for a while after that, possible 1 Qtr results may pull it up if there good but since most are reporting poor results at the minute who knows.
Think the corona virus is over rated as 2% of people who get it die as apposed to .5% of people who get the flu die.
It will cause disruption to businesses but I would have thought minimal really.

Until there's an improvement in the outcome regarding the virus (which there isn't) the markets will continue downwards.

This is very negative for global GDP.

The £ has recovered from yesterday's fall.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for bank shares.
