23/9/2021 14:10 | You have a point Blacksmith. Thing is mine are in a SIPP but i still fiddle with it far too often, so when something drops i get all flustered. Problem is im a gambler but want to be an investor and struggle holding long term. | nemesis6

23/9/2021 13:29 | The problem here that some people are having in their sell/buy decisions is because they probably find themselves acting between that of a trader and that of an investor. You need to decide which you are. If you are a trader then your sell decision will be decided for you by a trailing stop-loss that you set that will get executed. Stop-losses are useful but they have to be set relatively wide from current spread or you will get stopped-out quickly by the algorithms. If you are an investor your sell decision will be driven by the market price against that of the 'intrinsic value' you have calculated. You can calculate your own intrinsic value by looking at earnings, cashflow, owner earnings (as defined by Buffett) (your choice as to which of the three) and working out the present value using a discounted cash flow. It is relatively simple and doesn't need to be too complicated. | medieval blacksmith

23/9/2021 11:30 | i sold out yesterday as i needed to get some funds from sipp have traded these and have always got out with small gains. thinking of buying back in already though but cant decide what to liquidate as i have no spare cash. 23/9/2021 11:20 | There is a time to buy and hold and a time to trade. Expensive if we get it wrong. This time I am holding. I know of former RR employees who accumulated 40,000 shares, peaking at £12.80.(pre rights) Never sold a share. When you own £500k and watch it collapse to below £100k it hurts. Then asked to participate in a huge rights issue. Painful. But RR is turning into a different company and has become much leaner. No pension deficits, invariably in surplus. Tens of thousands of former employees have had their pensions transferred to L&G. RR. could be a big winner going forward after a difficult spell. | careful
23/9/2021 11:07 | I'm up 20% on this . Have been a few times before since January . But held through. Tempted to take profits this time. As it seems to drop back down to near 1.00 . But what if I cash out and this keeps going up ugh . So much going on in markets you have to think something will knock this rise back too ... Anyone else in this pickle | bakar922
