I'm gutted because I just sold MGGT at 717 a few days ago thinking it will not go much higher. I got in at 285.

Covid has been a complete disaster for RR in the short term.

In the longer term it has allowed them to refocus and cut huge amount of costs and improve efficiency.

They are cutting 9000 positions and will emerge a completely different animal with improved profit margins in a more focused specialised and efficient form.

Covid has no doubt allowed the management to cut costs ie jobs that they may have dreamt of cutting over the next ten years!

I haven't followed RR for some time now. Clearly COVID has been a disaster, but I can't help but think there is fundamental, strategic value in the company. Maybe because I'm frustrated I didn't buy MGGT at 300 like I was about to... any views welcome.

Onwards and upwards.You must remember stocks don't just price in the now...they price in expectations. I don't know many that think the outlook for flying doesn't follow an upward trajectory from here. Some of that is in the price, yes.But there is also fear in the price. Variants, changes to business travel, approaching end of summer holiday flights and so on. There is plenty that is likely to go well and that is not factored in.Most of the doom and gloom is the reason why the stock is where it is now.

Bail now before it's too late.... Will dip again as outlook for flying hours stop recovering.Just look at the news today. China flight stats down massively over last few weeks, will continue as country tightens travel even more to contain outbreak.Southwest Airlines in USA just issued downbeat Q3 outlook due to Delta variant increase.Can easily see shares slipping back to the 90p mark here, so that's an almost 20% downside for anyone holding...Of course I'm just a random internet poster so DYOR!

I would agree that perhaps with crypto rocket gains people's expectations have changed and become unrealistic. People are chasing crazy gains in very short timeframes. This obviously comes with great risk. Me, I'm happy with consistent performance and the miracle of compounding. At some point, when the wall of money decides, the price will increase. This is the time for patience. The market provided an opportunity to buy value with modest risk. I've taken it and will wait for value to out.
